Check your calendar Stu, St. Patrick's day is on a Monday, March 17. Better let Mike organize this thing!

I like those local guys suggestions, let one of the locals show us around the back roads.

Brief Update

I emailed the Gorges NC Park Service today to check out the facilities. As soon as I hear back, I will post an update.

I am targeting either 3/15 or 3/22 as dates for the meet. Anyone have a preference?

Question Feedback from Park Service

The NC Park Service at Gorges State Park says they have parking and picnic facilities that will accomodate 15-20 cars. The road and parking is gravel, but should not present a ground clearance problem. We would have to use the Frozen Creek Road (east side of park) entrance. The park enterance off of NC 281 is unders contruction.

The link below is the web site for the park. It provides a lot of information and interactive maps so you can plot your probable route to the park. Take a look and let me know what you guys think. We have lots of time to firm up these plans.

Its a 181 miles (taking I77 to I40 to I26) from me in Charlotte. Looks like < 3 hours for the trip. Sounds like it might be a good time.

Looks perfect, a great place to spend an afternoon, not to mention the drive up and back (all good, from my house, I'll probably go up 441). Either 3/15 or 3/22 is fine for me, whichever is sunnier.

I'd prefer an overcast day, personally.

If it's happening in late March, I'm pretty sure I can make it. If not, I'm hoping to make it to DGRR this year for sure. My 240sx got rear ended, but it drives fine, so insurance money is going where it counts, replacing my turbo!

Why not come over to AL and join us for a drive through Cheaha State Park?

I vote for March 22 or later. Gorges St. Park sounds like a good choice and is reasonable driving distance for most. It'll be a long drive for me, but that's okay.

Time to Gauge Interest

Let's test the water on this.

Who would be down for a mountain run to Gorges State Park, NC? The link with the details of the park and a map is a couple of posts up in this thread Tell me the date you would prefer 3/22 or 3/29.

When we get a feel for the level of interest then we can start making some firm plans.

Let me know if you think you are interested in this. Targeting 3/22 or 3/29.

3/22 seems to be the preferred data on the OG@TA thread, at that park in North Carolina. Maybe we can hook up with one of the moonshiners up that way for a tour of the back roads.
