Charleston, SC guys: HELP

Here is my problem:
https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-specific-1986-1992-17/help-eccentric-shaft-bolt-falls-out-awesome-638787/

I have heard this could be an issue:
http://www.mazdatrix.com/faq/pulley.htm

Here also:
http://www.aaroncake.net/RX-7/damage.htm

I cannot take the front cover off myself. So, in turn, unless anyone wants to help, and I will pay you money, and by help I mean you mostly do it and I help you, the only choice I have is to put the spring and pellet in the bolt, bolt it down and start it up... and hope, apparently

As you know, I would more than appreciate any of your help.

Zach,
I can help you fix it if you need, from what i read, it doesnt sound too bad of a job. I would NOT just retighted the e-shaft bolt back in, it sounds like that bearing has definately fallen, since it was running rough before you cut it off. and it would be cheaper in the long run to just take everything apart and fix it right than press our luck

we would have to take the front cover off and reseat it from there, but that means taking off the oil pan, waterpump, etc.. you may want to order the new oil pellet first, and we would have to see which of these we need to re-order:
Front cover gasket
Front cover "O"ring
Oil pan gasket
Water pump housing to engine gasket
torrington bearing(s)?
Front seal
Thrust washer(s)
Thrust Plate

did you get it towed back to your house yet?

gxl90rx7.

I have it back at my house. I'm glad about that. I agree with you that taking it apart is what needs to be done.

If you're willing to help, I would much appreciate it. Like you said, I know I need the oil pellet, so I'll order that right now (which I should have done already).

I'm free every friday, saturday, and sunday, all day. I don't have a ton of tools at my house, but hopefully enough. I think the only thing I don't have would be ramps and a torque gun (I have a breaker bar)

Give me a ring if you'd like. 843.607.9967. I think Jamin would be willing to help also. Thanks.

Zach

gxl90rx7 is jamin. lol

jamin, you guys shouldnt need to take off the oil pan, just a few of the bolts. and if it does need to come off, just use RTV to make a new oil pan and new front cover gasket. i do that when i build a motor and it works like a charm.

So Jamin and I took the engine apart and found that the bearing was pretty much fused to the spacer, so there was almost no chance that the bearing would have fallen off and been smashed when tightening the bolt back down. I.e., we didn't need to take the engine apart.

Now I have an oil leak, which is cleary coming from the oil pan. One more thing to fix.

So I see the leak coming form my oil pan gasket. I tightened the bolts down, but to no avail, so it looks like I need to replace the gasket. The only problem is it looksl ike one of the two motor mounts has a bolt that connects to the engind through the oil pan. What is that about?

Also, I see exactly where the oil is coming from. It's one tiny spot. Is there no way to fix this without replacing the gasket? Thanks.
