ATL - Anyone wanna come play with the RX-2 this weekend?
Guys,
I've got to support the motor and get the crossmember out in order to paint the crossmember and assemble the oilpan, baffle, pickup and reinforcing plates. It's not a huge job, but I'd have to support the tranny at the bellhousing with the engine floating in space and the crossmember removed. If anyone's close to Buford and wants to lend an extra pair of hands, I've got plenty of beer.

Man I'd love to be there but I stay home on the weekends because of all that commuting I do. Do you need to hang it from above or can you put a jack under the bell housing and just lift it off the crossmember?
Can you get some photos of that levitated 13B for the OGTA archives?

Well, I actually picked up an engine hoist this weekend at Northern Tool ($129 for a folding 2-ton with leveller) so it's not such a crazy job, but yes, I still need a hand. Now that the engine's fully supported, I might slip the tranny off too so I can paint it. I'd definitely like an extra pair of hands to slip the tranny off without gouging the freshly-painted firewall. I'm just west of Mall of Ga - PM me if y'all have time.

Well, this weekend is a long one, so I imagine I'll be available all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Beer is typically Corona and Sam Adams, but I'm open to requests (the leftovers can always show up at Ray's later). Right now, I'm unplugging the cable modem in order to run the compressor, so I have a dedicated circuit to run as time allows. Maybe I'll just do that Saturday when I know you can't be here. Anyway, just let me know what works and if you want to make the drive.

Yeah, David, I'll keep that in mind. I actually took the center link out, crossmember out, dropped the motor out the bottom, separated the tranny, and took the tranny and crossmember to get washed. Once they're painted, they'll need to go back in, though. If you're that close, then just come by for a beer sometime - no reason to wait for a project!
But I'll have another project in about 2 weeks, once they're painted.
BTW, does anyone know of a good interior shop around NE Atlanta? What about window tinting that will do it off the car? I have a pile of glass that I'd rather tint ahead of time.

Dammit, I knew that. I'm just behind the Elementary School on Level Creek, just SW of the intersection of Hwy 20 and Peachtree Industrial. Come by, have a beer.

Very cool. On a side-note, I'm holding auditions for a shotgun driver for Saturday. Duties include rocking the radio, and keeping me awake. I'm headed to Ohio and back to get an -SE.

I think I'm gonna take Ben's dash structure, but he's got a GS, which means checkered cloth. We're gonna squat on three cars and play musical interiors until we're done. He doesn't, however, have a sunroof headliner, and you've got the correct door panels for the car, which I've gotten used to.
Ray, there's a thread in the 1st Gen section about the car I'm looking at, and am slated to buy. I'm a little worried about the rust, but they all have their problems. Thread is HERE, photos are HERE.
Officially, I'm not absolutely getting it because I've never fought rust before, and don't know how bad is too bad. There are more folks up north who can tell me if it's worth the work, I've just got to consider for a little longer. I've got the wife gone until the 28th, and off from the 22nd to the 2nd, so I've got time to whip it into shape to make a good impression on the wifey, with another week to really hit up the RX-2 as well.
What I really need is a codriver for Saturday - as much Mt Dew as you can drink!!
