I'm game for a meet and greet if I get up in time, looking like a 4 hour ride for me, so it would be an all day thing.

My daughter popped in to stay with me a few days while I’m recouping from surgery. Can’t make it. Also, I’ve got a guy coming to look at buying my Rx7 this Saturday. He sounds pretty interested. We shall see.

I'll be out of town for a week, but I'll try and organize something when I get back.

Well I didn’t see this coming. My 7 is sold. Guy Out of nowhere made me an offer I couldn’t refuse. He’s picking it up this Saturday. Count me out sadly.

Well, it wasn't me LOL! Glad you got some good money for it. It was an award winning car for sure. Hopefully the new owner will care for it well. So are you out of the rotary game for good Paul?

most Likely Tim. I’ve had three glorious Rx7’s in my life. The money offered is just too much to pass on. This Mx5 gets me all the smiles I need these days. With a small portion of the 7 money I’ll be able to finish upgrades to suspend/brakes/wheels and tires. You made a comment a ways back about not neglecting the queen in my garage and it kind of hit me. I only put 268 miles on it since last July. You gotta drive em to keep them vital. Also I’ve been putting off a few projects on it and been spending most of my time on the MX-5. It was time.... sadly. I’ll be checking in with OGTA.. you can’t get rid of me that easy.

An FB in TLC sounds like the thing for you Paul.

Something you can dig your teeth in.

Make as pretty as that SE you just sold.

Maybe even an SA, talk to Tim.

And you are welcome on OGTA anytime.

Especially now that Trump is losing so bad.

Did you hear they're calling it the Trump Virus now?

I started calling it TrumpVid-19 back in April.

Ray, you ignorant ****... oh sorry stealing a line from Chevy Chase.. seriously I just don’t see another 7 in my life unless I develop an additional income. Even then I’m not inclined to go back. This NC Miata is pretty cool and the wheels/tires/suspension/brakes I’m doing next will really make this a nice ride on top of the sways, exhaust and re-map I already did. My N.C. miata blows all three of my FB’s away hands down for Driving smile factor. It just isn’t as pretty, isn’t as cool, isn’t as unique, isn’t that coveted isn’t that.... you get the picture. I’m torn here and I’m pretty torqued but he offered me more than I could ever wish for from BaT And without all the pics, argued interrogations, arguments on reserve, and answering a weeks worth of stupid questions like “did you change the timing belt yet”? And then the let downs that can occur. This happened in such a way that it just makes sense now. And, the guy that taking her over is the right place... it’ll end up In Puerto Rico in a few years. No matter how hard
it hurts. I don’t have to tell any of you... US .. what the FB’s mean to us. I hit the high water mark with this one I’m saying bye too.. I’ll take that as a plus, tear up on Saturday when he pulls away.. and go in the house pull out my Moss Miata catalogues and spend $3000.00 on my next project.. it’ll be on a boinger... But that’s ok.. it’s still a Mazda. And it will be badass... maybe I’ll drive it to an OGTA meeting or meet soon and see if I get turned away!! Lol. You all can take her for a spin!

You make some good points Paul, owning an SA or FB has become an exotic investment.

They used to be so common, we could get dozens of owners to show up every month at the OGTA meetings.

Any rotary guys in NC-ndoj7gp.jpg

But so many have moved on and the survivors are few and far between.

Now even organizing a romp in the mountains is a major undertaking that's not likely to happen.

And Miata's really aren't that bad, we have two of the hatchback versions as daily drivers.

A 2002 Protege5 and a 2012 Mazda3.

OGTA meeting in Jefferson December 2008:

Zoom Fest 2009:

OGTA meeting circa 2010:

Mountain drive last year, the Survivors:

Those were the days.

See you down the road Paul! I think I still owe you a beer.

Fate does have a fickle finger.. after texting me a copy of the certified check, texting me many times to reassure the meeting time this morning, driving it, looking at it for 3 hours... the buyer backed out at the last second. I am still a Wankel owner! That’s the good news. He just happened to see my 7 on FB, it’s never been advertised. Close call!

I recently came across a gem of a Turbo II after I was forced to sell my FD to pay for tuition. Located in the Raleigh area.

I know I'm a little late to this party but I'm in Clayton! Just a half an hour outside of Raleigh.

I sold my rx7s a few years ago. Loved them but they were rotting here at the beach.
