Yes... I know its been a while since ive been on and thanks for all the comments and responses guys!!. We finally got the car out to Homestead on September 7th for the FARA event. It was a rough beginning on saturday morning with leaking issues and a couple other small problems but we got it figured out and my partner Al and I where able to qualify the car on pole for the qualifying race on sunday. I drove the qualifying race on sunday and while in 1st place in the 4th lap we cracked a header. Causing us to qualify in last place for the race. you will see in the video that even starting in last place that car jumped 5 spots before turn one. and by lap 5 we where already in 1st place and ahead of about 3 MP2 cars. my partner spun out cause of an issue with the brakes and in the second half of the race i was able to make up 1 lap and we ended up in 3rd place. not bad for a first time shake down weekend. we will be making some changes to the car and will be out there for the next even on December 23rd. Again i want to thank my Partner in crime AL, for helping me make this project come to life. if it werent for him and his shop, this would not have been possible. I also want to thank CLR (Carlos Lopez) for building this kick *** engine for my car. awsome job!!!!! see for yourself in the video.

again, thanks!!

Rob, awesome car bro. I know it took you a long time to get it finished, but it all paid off. Congratulations and good luck.

Exclamation Power sterring question

Just for those who asked, Its a regular 3rd Gen PS Pump. We used the OEM Bracket and cut it up a bit and modefied it to make it fit around the sump cover. As for needed or not. it maybe adds another 10 pounds to the car but the steering feels great, especially when we are doing 2.5 hour enduros.

Thanks for the comments guys, We went racing on Dec 23rd and finished 5th overall. our fueling system killed us. we were in first and we lost 8 mins in the pitts both times trying to fill 22 gallons through 1/2 inch line

Dry break system is already in the workbooks for the march race, i will let you guys know how it goes.

Sounds like a good idea....
Let us know the exact date so we can set up a nice long ride from Broward. Should give everyone enough time to get their RX7 up and running...

Thumbs up Next Phase, 4 Speed JERICO Transmission

It has become apparent after 2 completed race events that the car needs a good competition Gearbox. I have opted to go with a JERICO 4 speed (Unless a 5 speed shows up) as the gearbox of choice. I will stay with the RX3 Bellhousing as this already has the Mazdaspeed Flyweel and clutch all set up. I have purchased the following adapter that we will begin to work off from. Next i need a Tranny.

We tore down the gearbox this saturday and i will be deciding on what ratios to run with this week. it was a pretty simple task but i wont know exactly how simple until its all back together.

Thumbs up Updates for FARA April Event including rear BBK

Its been a while since i have been on here but we have been at work on the race cars weather it be my race car or Big Als. Since the last race in December we pulled the motor and gave it to CLR to freshen it up and we have added an additional cooler for the Diff and also changed the way the front oil coolers are mounted. I also added a Racing Brake rear BBK to go along with all the fixins. here are some pics

Thumbs up 1994 FD Rx7 Race car for sale!

For those that have followed this thread since its inception in 2006. I will be selling my Rx7 Race Car to pursue my goals in another racing category I have joined recently. Its impossible to run 2 race cars and be competitive in both classes. At least with my pockets that is. LOL! I have not formerly made a for sale Ad as of yet but will be making one for the forum, EBay and Racing Junk in the near future. Just a chance for those that are serious to get in before I do so.

rob20rx7@bellsouth.net

Thanks!
RoB

Thumbs up

No need to be sorry, its actually a good thing for me. I raced the car for nearly 4 years and got some real good seat time out of it. The class we built it for just has no real competition. The only thing that ever came even close to us was a civic hatchback with a K24 in it. Fun times but i have chosen to move on and to a more aggressive but cost friendly class in the Spec Miata Field. In 4 races that i have attended to already, the lowest car count in my class was 18. Its nuts! and this past Thanksgiving at the Turkey Trot at Sebring we had a whooping 58 cars total. I just cant express how much fun that is.

As for other projects, We are in the final stages of the 4 rotor build and hope to be stacking the engine next year around February. Check out my other thread for updates on that.

Thanks

here is a little vid from that Spec Miata Race
