Ehh i think the 7 was toying with the GT-R. You could hear the rotary letting off the gas as soon as he got to him, while the GT-R was pinned around 6-7k. The rotary sound is unmistakable and sounded like he had more to give. But hey, what do I know lol.

Now thats some proof to the supra guys who claim wight is not a factor for their sweet geared transmissions. Both have the same power level and the rx7 destroys

You guys are getting your panties in wads for no reason as you dont know the specs on this car. He is running a stock tranny and rearend still in this vehicle. It is a journal bearing turbo. I pulled him by a car and a half on a 50 roll everytime and when we shifted from 3rd to 4th he was gone like the wind. The car spools very slow and comes on like a freight train. He wont brake boost until he beefs up some driveline parts. I know it needs to be done sorely but it is what it is. The car is nasty on the top end. G

"I'm still on a stock rear end and axles so I turned it down just a little for the street" -https://www.rx7club.com/20b-forum-95/748whp-542-tq-%40-19-psi-93-octane-988771/

I would think this means he isn't making 748 in this race. Still sucked that GTR up pretty easy and is obviously a faster car. Sounds like he was starting a gear up.

the fact is the 20b is an old heavy engine that just doesn't produce the power the little lightweight v6 does. The gtr has an awd system that re adjusts itself electronically every 1/1000 of a second to make sure it always has perfect traction. its an auto that shifts faster than most autos including racing transmissions. we have to realize the rx7 is just not what it use to be.

Not quite sure why the weight of the engine is such a determining factor here...... the AWD system you mention I do agree with.

Do you really thing a 3+ liter V6 engine with 2 turbos, manifolds, Dp's etc is heavier than the old 20b?

I also pop a blood vessel when ppl say that LSx motors weight only ~20lbs more than a 13b.

I would love to see more races with the rx7 eitherway! Its a sick car.

It still has an excellent power to weight ratio, handling that rivals any current production car, and looks that drop panties.
Also, a 20b rx7 will dust everything but c16 gtr's. Don't know why you think it's dated.

GTR's and drum machines have no soul.

you have a point GTR's are one step away from being a roller coaster. while they are fast and fun. you aren't really driving it.
