D1 recording
Hi,
I finally figured out how to get my miniDV content onto my computer (i've been too busy working). I went to D1 in socal and recorded a bunch of it. There were a few rx7s in the competition.
Questions:
1) what resolution should I convert it to? and what format?
2) where should I upload them to?
3) are you guys actually interested in the content?

If you are, you have a choice on how to save your project. Usually for posting on internet, I use the Broadband setting. 512kbps. Anything more than that can cause pauses and long buffering times.

I have sony DV cam and it came with this application called 'Video Capture Tool'. Yeah, quite a generic name. It produces VLC media files, 10 minutes each, 4 gigs each. Do you suggest I use MS Movie Maker instead?

I haven't used anything else, I'm too cheap to actually go buy a program. MMaker is part of Windows XP service pack 2. If you don't have it, you can download it at microsoft.com.
Now I have heard that some video editing programs do not recognize Sony products. You'll have to see if MovieMaker does. Start there and see what happens. You don't need to capture video at 4 gigs only to post on the internet. MM allows choices for that before you transfer your tape to your hard drive.

I ran out of battery, so I save the last bit of juice for the final match.
