Leaning out AFR safely

We all know N/A's run pretty rich stock....How much power can be gained by leaning out the AFR safely? I'm thinking about getting a rtek real soon. I'm just waiting for the newest version. I'd also like to get an idea of how much power i can squeeze out of my engine while maintaining driveability/reliabilty.....thanx!

I have heard people gain about 30 more horse by leaning out. That is just what I have heard.

If you're making 550HP and in the low 10's and lean it to 11.5 area I've easily picked up 30 HP.

550 hp is a little bit unattainable for a stock port / street port NA.

This thread shows before and after dynos from an S5 NA with a 2.0. AFRs were leaned out from 10-12s to low 13s. https://www.rx7club.com/rtek-forum-168/thumbs-up-s5-na-2-0-a-668832/. The images are broken, but a post by turbo2ltr links to them on the pocketlogger site.

EXACTLY, we are talking about just leaning it out a little, aka everything else is stock. hell, even on a reasonably modded stock port na, 30 horses is an unrealistic gain for leaning out AFRs.

Well, yes and no. Those charts show a 12.5 peak horsepower gain, but there's also significantly more useable torque above 6000 rpm. Hence the fact that peak horsepower was made at 6750 rpm instead of 5750 rpm.

Of course for some reason his car was suffering from a very severe dip in power at 6500 rpm which isn't normal so much of his gain is fixing an issue. There is still a worthwhile gain though. He didn't even touch timing so more could be had from what he gained.
