how difficult is it to install yourself and what tools are needed

Install of the chip should be pretty easy for the 1.x series. 2.x is not an option must send away the ECU.

If your asking that, I highly recommend a known rotary tuner in your area. For installation and tuning.

The instructions for installation are on our site. Click the RX7 button at the top, and the instructions are on that page towards the bottom.. So you can see directly what's involved.
