My company actually has one of those! It's pretty slow and the cost to use it is downright scary.

Also, making tools would be a plus.

No rebuilding at all. You should be able to print the entire assembly fully assembled.

That is sweet! Is it pretty much like a CNC machine then but not metal?

Saw one to day on "How its Made" that use a similar technique to buld a replica dinosaur fossil.

I love rapid prototyping. Now if we could just don it with steel, alluminum, titanium etc....

No it actually "builds" the model one layer at a time.

I can't believe they actually have a Mazda rotor housing as one of the examples! That's very cool.

Zprinter doesnt do metal, but there are rapid prototyping models that are as big as a garage that does metal.

Check this video out,

First. Very cool video, i didn't realize that metal was an option. I love the BMW infomercials.

B. Its ironic that they use the Formula 1 example. No BMW in 2010.

&. I wanna be able to go to the machine shop, with a part and say " I need this manifold but with out that and that" Ok two days.
