turbo water cooling

i asked on me local forum but im always keen for more input,
My question is do i really need to run the water cooled section in my gtx45, even for lengthy dyno tunning sessions ? , as is going to be just anothe rpain in the butt mod i have to do to make it fit.
The engine is run on exclusive meth if its any difference and motul 300v lemans oil .

What is the maintenence like for you guys who dont run cooling on roller bearing cores, run it till it seizes or pull it down and replace the core after so many runs, and is there better roller cores out there ,or is the garrett core good to go

i was skeptical wheni first had a ballbearing turbo, but hooked it up anyway, was all sweet. had to drop the coolant, and did not bleed the waterlines at the turbo when i re filled. the way the water line were routed it got an air lock in it. cooked the **** in under 1000km... figured it was best to always run water after that. its there for a reason

just hook le unit up beef, got somone to weld -6 males onto top and bottom tank of radiator, run line from turbo to top and bottom tanks, cool one side hot other side, thermal flow will work as a heatsink, done simple good

I agree. It certainly can't hurt, unless you route the lines poorly and they burn up and dump coolant everywhere.

Garrett has an article on their site right now about water cooling the center section. Haven't read it myself, but it may have some info for you.

top read that, but it brings me back to my original question, i have methanol .

this is the quote copied from that essay from garrett :
(or purpose-built methanol / alcohol fueled dragsters, for
example) may not require a water-cooling system for the turbocharger. In this case the condition
of all turbo components should be closely monitored to ensure the bearings remain in
good condition and oil coke is not forming. If in doubt, set up a simple water cooling system.
