Oh yes, its true. I saw that damn thread about the blow thru turbo car, and it gave me a boner. I really like the idea of a blow thru with alky, so no intercooler, but I cant get E85 here. So I would be limited to regular alky, but I am lead to believe that driveability would be absolutely horrible.
Sooooo, how do I make this possible?
(I already own a S475, but decided to just go carb and nitrous right now cuz I thought it would be cheaper than buying an entire EFI system to use the turbo. But holy **** that blow thru carb car runs good! Damnit I am so jealous)

Yes, I want to drive on the street. Weekends or various jaunts just for fun. Nothing remotely like a daily driver.
The nearest E85 is HOURS away, too far for me to want to do it.
Mixing the gas is not an unheard of idea..... But will I be able to DRIVE it on the mixed gas? I really dont want to be having to drain the fuel and **** every time I put the car in the garage. Or change the oil all the damn time. PS, I know nothing about mixing it yourself. I guess I havent done too much homework on it.
( I mocked up the Pport motor *** read, no E-shaft or rotors in it*** and put her in the car. Next I will be getting an intake manifold made for her. I will be talking to my machinist this week about it. )

Im in Reno, which is about 8 hours from Vegas. The closest track is Sacramento CA, and its about 3 hours from me. That would be 6 hours round trip. Meh. Im not really thrilled about the idea.
We have a local VP dealer, perhaps something I can get from there?

Very cool, I want one.
Btw, i didn't mean mixing it in your tank, i would do it in the drum. Take 8 1/4 gallons out of the tank, fill the rest with gas. You could mix up your klotz lube in with it while you're at it. Actually, at that point, you may as well just run straight ethanol...

You don't need a Intercooler to go fast
Doc,
I thought you were a NOS guy. Why don't you build your old NOS setup and add the turbocharger? I have not read much about your car lately, but there are alot of cars running without intercoolers. Holley carbs usually run pig rich anyways plus some nitrous you should be ok. Just keep the EGT's down and it should be one hell of a ride.
The RX7 first generation turbo kits did not use intercoolers. I think Cartech Turbo in Texas was this first and they were very successful at making a little Weber 40 IDF work really well without a intercooler.
Remember keep it simple so you can have fun with your car. I used to have fun with my car until I got creative with intercoolers, bigger turbos and all the other crap you could possibly change on a turbo kit.
Good Luck

Sooo, not sure if I should be asking this here but....
I am meeting today with my machinist, and he will be welding up/fabbing my inake mani for my pport 13b. Its going to use a holley carb flange. How long do I want the runners? My goal is horsepower, this is no dailey driver. Any suggestions guys? Should I be building any sort of plenum into the mani? If so, how big? I appreciate the help guys.

One advantage of a carb is the extra cooling effect from the pressure drop across the venturis. I have been running 22psi(on S4 rotors) for over 3 years with 93 octane only. Matter or fact; with the e85 my intake is cool after a1/4 mile run. It actually sweats.

Just get a intercooler and run pump gas. The S475 compressor should be very efficient and allow 20 psi easily.

That's gonna be a monster. What are your 1/4 mile goals?

As far as 1/4 times, I could point out that the chassis is only good down to 8.50's!!!
Haha, honestly, on the idea of nitrous only, I would be happy getting into the 9's. But with a turbo, I would hope for much better performance. The S475 should support quite a bit of power.

Pm me the details? Cuz the guy who I intend to have fab it, came by today to take all the measurements. I am supposed to get the engine down to his shop so he can begin fabbin it up!
Dammit Allen!!! Now I wont be able to sleep tonight cuz I will be all excited!!!!

I am waiting for my buddy to e-mail me pictures for you. He is building a P-Port RX-3 and bought a Holley intake for it, now he is thinking of going wit a Weber. As soon as i talk to him i will let you know.
Even if he doesn't want to sell it to you i can get the contact info for the shop that makes them.

Is with or without an intercooler?
??? Why the 850? Care to elaborate? I am not following as to why you would need a carb that large.
