An internet war.
You guys really think that people in the buisness is going to respect anybody in here or even want to be part of this chilidish games.
For one nobody official have even come forward to confirm the seriousness of this so called race.
Where are the people from 'PINKS'? Any official word from 'PINKS'?
What about the forum owners?
This **** reminds me of the stuff you read on the SUPRA forums all the time. A bunch of keyboard racers fighting among themselves and in the end no one even stepping up to the plate. This **** is so funny because the real racers don't even give a ****. They just show up and race.
I always thought the RX-7 community was a lot more mature than that but as of late it seems to be heading in the same direction.

Where did the thread discussing our build go?

Update:

I've gotten an email back from Nate taht basically told me the show's format isn't exactly looking for head to head comps anymore. He did say that the charity aspect may get us a race since they do have a fwe prospective groups that want to do a similar "Pinks for charity" joust.

I also heard from Pertano on 3TC forums and he apologized for their boards conduct on here. I'm offering him the same, this is ridiculous.

I *tried* to be at the head of this thing and get some info and direction but no one seems to be behind this with any more interest then simply putting down the competition.

I'm going to try talking to Nate a litle more and see if I can't fenagle an arrangment that fits the "all out" format better. If I get anywhere I'll fill you guys in......

What do you mean they don't want "Head to Head" racing ?

As in rivalry. The new "all out" format just pits a ****-tonne of cars against each other. They race a bunch of cars, pick a tight cluster that seems to ahve maxed out their rides (ie. consistent times) and then does a shoot out for money.

Its not about picking an enemy/competition and going for pinks anymore apparently.

edit: lol, yeah they want head to head (close!!!) racing which is why they're doing it this way.......should've explained better sorry

because everything now a days is pussyfide (not sure if that is actually a word) also it adds a level of controversy to the show that makes the ratings go up. This is why pinks can lick my *****.

I'm sorry I didn't quite word that correctly. When they have to go back and forth between the cars asking how many lengths and to run with or without nitrous etc.. etc.. etc.. adds controversy to the show that increases rating. It also probably adds time to the show or it would be all of about a 5 minute show (unfortunately they don't believe in educating the people on the differant cars and the build etc... that would take up alot of time). I think going heads up is not in thier "best interest".

edit: but thats just my oppinion.

Well, from what he said in the email it would appear as though racing for ownership of cars on PINKS is no longer how it works. Its for money now.

HOWEVER - he still said that they have requests and thinks it will happen, the way they are doing things now is a different format.

EDIT: It seems as though the producers want tighter racing - no blow outs which can happen with the 5 lengths no bottle BS - which is why they're doing it in the new format.

But as I said he claims they still get requests from people who can bring tight and fast races so the traditional format may still happen, just not like before.

Either way though I think we shouldn't be deturred from building the car. The chances of something happenign are far greater if we can actually have a RACE to promote instead of a bunch of internet dick measurments. The yota boys plan to be finished by early august - we can make this happen yes?

oh **** I see, damn thats crazy. Hopefully it will have a cooler format. I think racing for pinks makes it a bit cooler but hey I think more people are willing to race if you don't have to give up your car.

First and foremost I want to appologize on behalf of the Site Adminstrator and myself for the conduct of some of the 3TC members. Sometimes competition gets out of hand turns into aggression. Either way you can expect that there will be no more of that type of conduct allowed or tolerated on either forum regarding this match-up.

Now back to the matter at hand. We are still going forward with plans to build the car and as long as you guys are going to build it as well then we will have a race when we get the call. I'm sure with a little self promotion and the ability to back up what are talking then this will become a reality. I am now, and will continue to be in contact with ClassicAuto about this race and will use him for any future questions or concerns regarding this matter.

See you soon, "AT THE TRACK!!!"

for right now im just seeing a lot of "talkers" and not enough "walkers"

i am most definitely interested in pitching in for the build. i do have a 6-port 13B off a GSL-SE that needs a new home. i just need to call a friend and see if he still wants it. havent heard from him about it in almost 2 months so more than likely he wont take it.
plus i will pitch in a few bucks.

i just wish there was something concrete. like an account or whatnot for the cash donations for the raffle tickets(have you done this already $100T2?), or even a solid answer as to who is going to build the; motor, chassis, suspension etc.

also once or even if this car gets built, regardless if there is a set date or not, we need to be dialing in the car, which is a given. just putting it out there

Did you notice that basically all I was trying to do was shut him up so we could get to business?

No kidding, and that's the serious part of our problem. It's a catch-22: Nobody is going to donate money/parts to build the car until we hear from the show, and the show doesn't want us if we don't have a car.

Where are the people from 'PINKS'? Any official word from 'PINKS'?
I thought VWH (Lupe) had an in with them, or was I mistaken?

What about the forum owners?
Good question. However, there are other forums that will get behind us, particularly TFL.

I always thought the RX-7 community was a lot more mature than that but as of late it seems to be heading in the same direction.
No kidding. That's part of the reason the serious racers like you probably don't want to be involved. There's too much "Gee, throw a 20B in an FD and they will tremble at TeH Awesomeness of TeH RotarY!" ****, and it's tough to weed through.

Maybe they can get all the "charity groups" together for a bracket elimination?

Well, so far I've offered up my car, come up with a plan for financing this, and have offered to handle the money, provide parts, etc. Honestly, I feel like I'm the only one really pushing this. As far as "putting down the competition", I haven't said a single negative thing about their car - in fact, I've praised it. I simply admonished a representative of their forum for coming in and attempting to "lay down the law" on us, and trying to get him to get out of here so we can handle our business.

If I were to do that, it would be incredibly presumptive on my part. I'm floating ideas out to you guys, and I haven't heard anything positive or negative back. Yeah, most of it got lost in the verbal warfare between me and the Toyota guy, but again, that was just to try to get him out of our hair. The raffle was a suggestion as a good way to raise the money for the car.

I was planning on contacting the various Forum sponsors here to see what they would be willing to contribute or discount for the race... But, again, who am I to just decide what's going to happen? This isn't "$100T2 vs. the Toyota forum", and I'm not going to take over and dictate. If I need to lead the project and provide the motivation for it, I can, but honestly, without a bunch of people behind this, it's not going to happen.

Again, we have several catches:

1) We need to KNOW the forum is behind the car. I find the total lack of response, either in favor or against this, from the forum owner to be very disappointing.

2) If we have the blessing of the forum, then we can approach the forum vendors. Let's say we go up to Robert from Rotaryshack, and he agrees to sell us a $5000 race engine for $3800 (I'm just making this up, I haven't talked to him, it's just an example), then we can announce that to the forum, and guys will be more likely to chip in.

3) Money talks, and bullshit walks. People, I'm willing to put up my FB. There have been other offers of this or that, but usually by people who flit into and out of the thread. I'm willing to put up my FB, I've suggested a plan to raise the money and parts we need, but AGAIN, I can't just put it all out there for the rest of the forum without IRON CLAD SUPPORT from the rest of you guys. We need a united front of 10 or 15 strong, dedicated forum members to show this isn't a crack pipe induced dream.

Again, I've been investing time, thought and even my car into this. If you don't like my ideas, say so. Got better ideas, say so. I've seen people who will create paypal accounts for the money, but other than that, what's been accomplished?

also once or even if this car gets built, regardless if there is a set date or not, we need to be dialing in the car, which is a given. just putting it out there
That's true, and it's probably not that big of a deal, once the car is built. We need to crawl before we walk, walk before we run. Let's focus on getting the car built.

$100t2, you have a lot of great ideas, I'm very convinced that with you and classicauto leading this, we will surely, if not win, at least have a finished car to race. I don't have a lot of technical knowledge, but i do have 8 hours/day of internet time that I can be contacting potential sponsors that would be interested to contribute to this. I personally would love to contribute monetarily as well.
So, again, I am 100% in for this project

As far as I know, there is no deadline, because it's not even definite we're going to do the show. We need to prep the car like there will be a show, the Toyota guys need to prep their car like there will be a show, and then we have to sell it to the guys at Pinks.

To build our car, we need money. To get money, we need a plan. To have a plan, we need dedication and unity. So, how do we get there from here?

For now, I'm going to throw down the gauntlet to you guys: Who here is definitely, 100% in? From what I've seen, it's me and classicauto. We need more than that! Who's ready to roll?

OK, one thing I did do was start a thread specifically for the building of the car. As more guys come on board, we can start threads for suspension, motor, turbo, whatever. Guys, it's time to brainstorm: Throw out your ideas, let's see what we can come up with.

Even though Im 17 an know 1/2 as much as u guys. I do know that since were drag racing, we need a big turbo, Built motor, and suspension to handle it. All in a cost efficient way. Best cost efficient way i think---FC 13b, with a used Gt4* or t8* (prob to expensive), heavily ported motor,Alcohol inj. Common bigboy parts that are easy to find and dont cost much.

Just throwing ideas.

Dude, you've got caviar tastes and we've got a tuna fish budget. We need to keep our heads out of the clouds and our feet on the ground. Let's be completely realistic, ok?

Look guys, the best choice is a car that already has a solid rear axle. We're going to have limited funds, so we've got to go with "tried and true" things like a Ford 9". Beefing up an FC or FD rear-end is not cost-effective. We want fast and cheap, so there's not a whole lot of room for experimentation. I'd rather sink the money into the motor than into revamping the rear suspension on an FC or FD. If this was a road race or something, it'd be a different story... But it's just a drag race, the car doesn't need to corner worth ****. I don't know how much we're going to get in donations or parts, and there isn't a whole lot of enthusiasm here for this project. Let's plan to do this on the cheap, and if we start making progress, maybe the forum will see it's serious and people will step up.

Like I've said before, Paypal is not the best means for this. Remember, they charge a percentage, so basically, we're giving them money donated to the cause... That makes horrible fiscal sense.

Lowest fees are around .10$ on per transaction on better acounts which I find acceptable. I'm ready to pay for the account upgrade as soon as we get enough people. But if you dont want paypal I dont mind. I'm just tring to help, let me know if you need any.

If I'm going to be handling the finances (which seems likely at this point), I'd rather not go the Paypal route. There are much, much simpler ways to handle it. Paypal might be a bit more convenient for the person sending the money, but if I'm going to have to send checks (or cheques for our Canadian friends), it's easier not to have to transfer money from Paypal to the bank, wait 5 days, send a check out, etc.
