Arrow New To Racing. Like to get more Involved

Hey guys let me introduce myself. My name is Jason and i am the President of the New York Rotary Association (www.nyrotary.com). Our club started in October 2005 (See article i wrote in RXTUNER, cover is "Homegrown showstopper").

This year we took off and have grown consistently from 7 cars at our first meet to over 69 cars at our last meet here in NYC. Generally we have BBQ meets across NY State. This year helped us get more exposure and getting people to become more involved with their own cars, networking with one another, and emphasizing working with fellow rotary heads to help one another out and learn from each other.

Next years 2007 events are going to be BIGGER than this year. This year was a learning experience. Were going to have a more meets, rotary car show, engine rebuilding classes (for us newbies who never took apart a block before), solo x events, and general workshops where we all work on each other cars.

I’ve met new people in NY and have built strong networks and relationships with certain people. The one thing i noticed that is lacking in the rotary scene in NY which can be true in other portions of the country is the LACK OF ROTARY RACING KNOWLEDGE.

I have tried to follow the rotary’s in NHRA Sport Compact Nationals, Speed Sources RX-8 in Grand Prix, BK Motorsports in Petit Lemans, Pan American Nationals, and other Mazda’s in general. In order for me to teach the people in my club and affiliates is to be knowledgeable myself.

I would like to become more familiar with some of these series especially NHRA. I have done research previously but its hard when you have no one to discuss this over, and with work, college and managing a car club it leaves little time for any more info retention.

Now im not completely clueless just need to refine my information and learn from people that are in it, this way i get a better perspective.

So i will be more active on this section from now on soaking up the acquired knowledge of the members here.

Thanks for your help in advanced

Let me the first to welcome you!!! It's funny you've been on the forum for so long and never came to this section.

Welcome, spend some time reading the threads and make sure you go to at least one test and tune at etown before the year is over!!!
