I don't know about engine diapers. The tech must be thinking about v8's. I think you need a steel scatter shield made out of 1/4" steel for the flywheel/clutch and for the engine, I think running that fast you need a oil catch pan under the engine in case you motor blows to help catch the oil from spilling on the track. You can fabricate this out of alluminum sheet. The specs should be in the NHRA rulebook. Call Rene, he has one on both of his cars.

an engine diaper is simply a cloth like material that goes on the oil pan. for when rods and pistons blow out the bottom of the block. the tech at the track dosnt know **** about rotarys. diapers are not needed on rotarys for the obvious reasons...

theres a 1/8 mile track here in Orlando that its a must for almost all rotarys to run them. So stupid...

How often does a rotary oil the track down from the engine itself? I'm guessing its pretty rare.

well, here in Orlando, its ALL THE TIME! cause the rotary people here are cheap *******. Rotarys have such a bad reputation here its insane. i cant mention i drive an Rx7 without someone mentioning how much they break or oil down tracks.

To many people saying there uncle in PR has a 9 second something with junkyard parts in it. so they try it and give us the bad name...

Honda's take the cake when it comes down to oil downs and axle/trans breaks.

I use a pan with folded edges about 1 3/4.....i made mine of aluminum and it really works good.Had some oil and water and a bunch of stuff with just a pan.If not cal DJ safety or
DEIST(local socal shops),they have some really cool engine diapers for v8's.They custom make good stuff.
