Ken Scheepers in car vid from Vegas.

Here's an in car video from one of Ken Scheepers qualifying runs. Too bad he let off or had to lift because it was on a very good run going by the timeslip.

Video.

Time slip break down.

Here's a comparisson to Pica's racing record run.
Pica Racing
1.128 segs - 60'
3.027 segs - 330'
4.589 segs - 1/8
5.961 segs - 990/1,000'
7.138 segs @ 191.00 mph

I think Ken was on a very good pass there going by his increment times to the 1/8th.

damn 7.35 and he let off. That was shaping up to be a very nice run. I guess since the other side fouled out he didn't have to stay on it?

If you listen carefully you would know why he let off as a result of a blown intake gasket plus there was an electrical issue.

From Ken's webpage.

''Although I ran a good 7.824 at 148.79 mph, I experienced the car just shut off for a few seconds then by the time I realized where I was, it came back on and rolled into the pit lane. The engine didn't sound "normal" and was idling high.

After spending precious time trying to figure out the cause of the high RPM and not being able to figure out exactly why the power just shut off momentarily I did not make the second and final round of qualifying. With time to figure out the problems, I had to replace a blown intake manifold gasket and learned that my battery voltage stabilizer module had overheated due to the high ambient temperature and the electrical load. I corrected this with a cold wet rag wrapped around the heat sink just before each run.''

I call that the racing version of Murphy's Law.
Something always goes wrong on what could have been the best pass ever.
He did the correct thing to do in his situation though. There's a championship at stake and his fellow competitors are following close in 2nd and 3rd place points wise and from now on it's anyone's chance to get it.

That 60' time can't be right......

Only gaining 13mph in the 2nd half means he has gobs more in it....

I have a feeling the heat more so the sun had something to do with that time slip.
I've seen a lot of strange things happen.
I would have believed the run more so if it was not for that 60ft.
It's been known to happen.
I remember one time on Domingo's rx-3 we got a 10.4 time slip where he let off before the 1/8mile and cruised the rest of the way. The time slip showed a 1.0 60ft.
