TX Cant separate trans from engine

Like the title says I cant get the tranny to come apart from the engine. I pulled them both together. I have unbolted the bellhousing from the engine and it will not release. Is there something that I am missing. Ive tried pulling it even had myself and another person each with a pry bar trying to separate it and it gets about 2 inches of separation then springs back to about a half in of separation. I am afraid I am going to break something. I have searched this forum for this problem and cant find it anywhere. Please help.

If it's out of an FD it has a pull type clutch and you need to disconnect the throw out bearing before you can separate it.

I'm 100% it is an FD motor/tranny you have to take the slave cylinder out and open the side and bottom tranny cover. Push the fork back and put a long flathead screwdriver in between the throw out bearing and the pressure plate than let go of the fork.

If you absolutely cannot get the bearing to release, you can rotate the engine a little bit at a time and unbolt the pressure plate from the flywheel through the inspection plate.

Use this option as a last resort - but it is an idea.

Its always confusing the first time you separate a trans with a pull-type clutch. That video will make it make a lot more sense.

Good tip. I like to replace the ring clip too, one snapped on me once and I had to drop the tranny again. Since then I replace them, some clutch kits may come with them.

After spending an hour trying to pop the throwout bearing loose from the pressure plate with a screwdriver, I decided to try then "unbolt the pressure plate" method and it took me about 15 min.I found other ppl that have done it this way too and they say their car starts and drives fine, but im wondering after doing this, would I need to reset the engine back to TDC or anything special or am I thinking too much?

thinking too much mate no timing issues to be had down back with the clutch, you can stick it back on any bolt hole you wish
