Ryan,
Is this series compariable to the GT42R series? As far as flow charts, dual ball bearing and power potential? I havn't heard alot about this turbo.

That's because it's racer's second best kept secret.

They are comparable to a GT-42/45.
More choices in both compressor wheels and turbine housings A/R's.
The turbine wheel is much bigger than the GT-42. Dont have one in front of me presently but the exducer on the turbine wheel is around 3.25".

these turbos are insane, i almost got one but ended up going with an actual T6 GT42 because of exactly what crispeed said.... for drag racing tho the s400 is an amazing turbo for the price.

Borg Warner does have other units that would be great for other types of racing. There is the S366 that if good to 800hp that would have killer spool on rotary with the proper turbine housing size.

so? is this do able (80MM/1.00 version) for say a street driven Heavy Mod'd Rx that likes to 1/4 mile it ?
or over kill
They use to say a T-76 was overkill
thanks to new design wheels and engine management improvements I don't think thats the case anymore

Now that my recent renovation on my house is done
I'm itching to get back in the game with a new setup

yea the s400 is a goliath. hahahaha

to me the s366 as mentioned or a gt42 (80mm version) would be the best compromise if the car is a still street oriented

i can't comment on spool up tho for the the gt42 on a 2 rotor since the one our shop has is on a 3rotor and my personal one is on my v8rx7... i know i know hahaha

It's basically the same size as the GT-42 using the T-6 turbine.
The S-400's offer more readily available choices in both compressor wheel and turbine housing sizes.
The major difference over the GT-42 would be the turbine wheel is much bigger more like a GT-45.
Have not seen a GT-42 make 900whp plus on a 13b but the S-400's have done it on many !

yea, i have the T6 gt42... the s400 to me just didn't seem street worthy hahahah. the turbine side is rediculous. perfect for drag racing tho i dunno, i may switch to one if this one spools up better than i expect.

That all is application dependant.

Which housing 1.00 or 1.10?
I'm ready to order one for my new half-bridge 13BT (13B-RE planned)

This link does not work for me. I am very interested in this turbo but it is hard to find any info on it.

I did run across this link though but i don't know if it is the exact turbo Crispeed is referring to?

I've been trying to decide on a turbo for my car lately. https://www.rx7club.com/old-school-other-rotary-63/20b-datsun-1200-a-576600/ I was about ready to go with a GT42, but these s400's look really interesting! I'm ready to start building my exhaust manifold, and need to make a decision on a turbo.

My car is a '72 Datsun 1200, Haltech E11,20b (will be large street port or semi-bridge, not sure yet), tilton 7.25 tripple disc, Doug Nash semi-clutchless 5spd, 3/4 chassis, four link with Strange coil overs, 8 3/4 chrysler diff, 28x13.5 tires. Should weigh about 2000lbs, hopefully a little less. The car will be street driven, but performance at the track is my main priority. Anyone have experience with s400's on a 20b? If so, recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for posting this link! I am very interested in buying a S300 turbo for my streetport 13B Cosmo engine. How much hp do you think it can flow for on my extended streetport with 9:0 c:r rotors, modified 55mm throttle body e.t.c? Once again thanks!

Sorry my new web site is under construction should be completed withing the next couple of days. DNS changes take up to 48hrs sometimes.

If you need any info on these dont hesitate to call 443-745-5911

I am curently tuning a 3 rotor street car with a s400 on it. On my race car as pictured on wide 7's post i am using a s400xs wich is a prototype 80mm wheel. I have made over 1000hp on a 13b with this turbo and run 7.49@179mph. With the s400 i have run 7.62@173. On my street car I have run a s300 with some upgrades and run a 9.79@142.

I have been using, and selling these turbos since the begining of time and recently have been blessed to be working hand and hand with Borq Warner Engineers since my race team is backed by Borq Warner.

It's about time you slap an 80mm on there!

I'm going to test a GT-42/74mm first on a 20B street application then switch over to a S-400 75mm to see the difference. I know the difference allready on a 13B race application but on a 20B it should have an even greater effect.

Did this test happen? Do you have some dyno charts?
