Auto gear box for drag FD ?

Hi guys

a few days before i make my first passes with my drag FD . My car produce 450 hp at the wheels at 1.2 bar , runs very good with excellent 60 foot times ( 1.5' is the better ) with m/t et drag , but i have a serious problem ...until now... to shift from 2 to 3 gear . There is not a gear box problem - so i need ...more and more practice !!!
A friend of mine who imports parts from Japan , has a auto gear-box from FD J-spec !
Can i use this auto gear-box in the future ? My goal is to produce more power in the future ( 1.7 bar ) , reduce the wheight ..etc

Pan.

Stock auto won't hold the power/torque.

Get a turbo350 or c4 if you want an auto.

Yes , Silvio i know about this seguential shifter . It was my first intension to use this one , but many drag racers told me that is better to use a clutchless tranny ...

None of the gear boxes that you listed above are sequential. They are all good companies that make great products. All NHRA Pro Stock cars use the Liberty clutchless transmission. This transmission uses a "vertical" gate shifter. You start in first, pull the lever back for second, forward again for 3rd and back for 4th. Some even run 5 gears. You cannon downshift the Liberty clutchless gear box. Strictly for drag racing.

If you plan on driving the car on the street and want the ability to downshift, I would suggest getting a T56 that has been modified by Liberty's with "face plate" engagement. This modification turns a T56 into a "dog ring" box and it will shift like butter. 5th and 6th gears will still retain the overdrive and have synchros so it will be nice on the highway. You will need an adapter to mate the trans to the rotary, but the shifter should come out very close to the stock location.

Just an idea..

Andrew

I've got a buddy who's currently making C4 kits. It allows you to use a C4, adapter plate, 1st gen RX7 bellhousing, RX7 flexplate and 1st gen RX7 starter. This will be far the cheapest option.
