Is It worth it ?.
I have been offered (long story) an rx-7 that has been parked inside for 12 years.40k no rust and ready for TLC.The question is what effect would all the time in storage have had on the seals in the engine ?.

Worse case scenario: the water seals are broken and the water made the engine rust.
I can't think of any other reason to be worried, ask him if he can start it and let it warm up for a while before you test drive. Maybe have a look at the oil if it contains water.
But i am a beginner also so you shouldn't rely on my words too much.

ROBERT, refer to my PM message. But to info others check the FAQ's thread for w/e Gen. it is. Use the search option for any other info i.e. (any problems driving/running/getting the car started, or just general questions), pretty much any question you can think of has been asked and answered. If you cant find answer then ask.
Problems would deff. might be carbon build-up, corrosion of wires/rubber hoses, animal "nests/homes". Do a compression test to make sure the motor will run. If compression test comes out good, then replace broken/worn/cracked/etc. parts, do a FULL ROTARY TUNE-UP (check FAQ's threads on this), and enjoy the car.
That'd be the first things I do. But yes I think it would be worth it. Even if the car wont run, try to find out whats wrong. Sometimes its something little. If the compression is 0, and you dont want to rebuild and keep the car, then part the whole car out and get free money.
