will octane booster give my rotary more power?
will octane booster give my rotary more power?
I am the owner of a 1995 fd3s running 320 fwhp. I have got my first track day coming up and I am thinking of using a 7 number octane booster in my fuel. the car has been maped to run on ron 98, will I get much of a power difference using an octane booster in my rotary.
how about if you:
1) go to a paint store and buy a gallon of xylene or toluene (whichever is available)
2) run your tank down to <3 gallons
3) (i don't know about your fuel management, but assuming your ecu operates like the dsm ecu) disconnect the battery
4) add the gallon of additive
5) add another gallon or two of whatever fuel you usually use
6) reconnect the battery
7) make a pull and adjust accordingly (or just run a little rich)
ta da! refreshed timing and octane in the 102 area.
this is what i do when i need to make more power on short notice.

higher octane equals less hp. but it will likely be un noticable to you. I say go ahead, because the higher octane will likely result in a safer track day. toluen and xylene make great octane boosters by the way.
