What is the STRONGEST Jatco Transmission for drag racing?

First of all, I hear a built jatco 3 speed transmission can be built strong and bolt straight up to a 13B.

Which of the JATCO transmissions are the best to build up?

Anyone know who offers trans brakes and performance parts for them?

I see that plenty of ausi guys are running 8's on this tranni.

Eric: Pm me if you want to get some more info. I'm doing a buy in so i can start building these here in the states. I've already got most of the stuff on it's way for mine and as soon as all the machine work is done and tested they will be produced and available for sale.

a kryptonite transmission is the best! I run one now and I never have problems with super man when I'm causing mayhem!

Japanese Automatic Transmission Company, IIRC.
They built the stock auto trannies for the second gen. Maybe for the third, too, I dunno.

Actually every single distributor RX7 auto has a Jatco.....maybe other cars as well but those i know for sure.

Eric: you will need to find a 3n71b trans for your car if you want to do the built auto. They seem to be a dime a dozen until you start looking. I've had so many people offer to sell and i've only got 3 trans out of 12-15 people. Pain in the ***! Plus sourcing all the other needed parts is another pain but at least it'll be legal to run in the drag radial class. If your serious about it just keep in touch with me and we'll get 'er done.

I'm very serious about it. I'm going to try and find a core to start out with. What year is the best? I want the 3 speed right?

As long as it says 3N71B and has the R3A designation your set. Good luck finding one and someone to follow through. They should be pretty cheap being that they're pieces of poop unless fully built.

What car/make/model and year does the 3N71B come in?

The '3' denotes it's a 3-speed so most early Mazdas and Nissans.

RX-2- 71-74
RX-3- 72-78
RX-4- 74-78
RX-7- 79-83
626- 79-82
B-2000- 83-84
B-2600- 87-88
GLC- 77-83

Honestly I know a lot of people that modified these things to the max and they were only good for about 4 or 5 runs in a full race drag setup, 500+hp. Just too small to take the abuse. Better off with a domestic tranny.

I believe that JATCO builds almost every automatic tranny for almost all Japanese cars. (Correct me if I'm wrong) You may try looking for one from one of the higher powered JDM or export cars. You will still need to find a way to mate it to the motor though.

The whole point in going with a Jatco is because they bolt right up to the 13B.

Opinion;; I would use a GM 350 auto , of course built up to serious HP levels, a power glide does not have a low enough ratio in 1st , so you DO have to adapt it , they have components to handle 600 ft lbs torque, 10,000 rpm.

I'm still doing some checking on the Jatco. If that doesn't work out then a stalled/braked C4 is going in my car.

To compete in the turbo6 class at NOPI, you need to use the stock transmission case.

I'm only going to run local tracks....... It's just a car to have some fun in

It has to be a Mazda tranny which the Jatco is unless i've read the rules all wrong. The Jatco wouldn't be considered an aftermarket trans......stock RX7 trans. It doesn't say that it has to be of the same year. Hell look at the Honda's.....they all run different tranny's than stock.

You're better off using a built TH350 due to it being more efficient than a C4 tranny. Remember rotaries don't make as much torque as a piston engine and therefore need to get as much power to the wheels as possible, the C4 will eat up more of that power to the wheels.
