using FD rotor housings with renesis side housing?

I saw a pic of this floating around, where the pic suggests this combo. With the only difficulty being the exhaust manifold, I don't think why this is not do-able for major exhaust flow increase...

wait, the water o-rings are still in side housings on the renesis engine right?

any thoughts on this?

How they used to be and how they should be.

Now, '74-85 13B rotor housings and RX-8 side housings is a possibility... or I should guard myself and say a *potential* possibility. Can't be TOO certain, they might have shuffled some stuff around tension bolt wise or dowel pin wise. But the pictures of the housings I've seen seem to suggest that the side port exhaust engine is made on largely unmodified PP exhaust tooling, so the placements of bolt holes/dowel pins is probably the same as well. (Unless they threw a curve and made the dimensions of the dowel pins or the bolts different...)

I have an idea. RX-8 rotor housings in a '74-85 13B. No exhaust ports at all means zero emissions!

Has anyone thought about side/peripherial exhaust ports as a possiblity? Would there be an advantage to this?

Both? I don't see how that would be an advantage. One you go PP it doesn't much matter.

PP combos are advantageous as they allow the low down torque of a side ported engine with the all out top end of a PP - have to keep the PP's small thou as air/fuel mixing chamber gets pretty messy if you used say bridge ports and 55mm PP's.
