Twin Fuel Pump System (pics)

Hey guys, I just finished getting my twin fuel pump (Walbro "hot" pumps) system working tonight. It includes a new Mallory FPR unit, a Mallory EFI competition fuel filter, parallel fuel lines to the rails, as well as a Marren Fuel pulsation damper. Have a peek at the gallery and don't make fun of my zip ties. Let me know what you guys think.

I've heard that before (about not letting them touch) but wasn't given a reason why. Can you shed any more light on this, please?

I would put rubber between the pumps. I think it'll cut down on noise a little. Also the pumps will chaffe on each other with all the vibration of the pumps running?

Can you put AN fittings into the fuel distribution block or just the nipples? I was going to run all hard line. From what i've read on supraforums.com alot of those guys use nose Y fittings. How much where the fuel distribution blocks?

Brian,

I would think that you want to put rubber in between the pumps since they have a case ground of sorts. If they touch together then that could result in one hell of a spark. I don't know for sure if that's the reason, but if they are case grounded like I think then that would be the end result if the two pump cases touched.

Those two blocks I bought were about $25 or so each. One of them had a leak from bad casting so I'm not sure I'd recommend it.

You can put AN fittings on there provided you adapt off of the female NPT in each one. Works well. Running all hard-line will be quite a pain in the butt. I was originally going to do it with a 10' roll of 1/2" tubing I had, but I decided against usi ng half of it in the areas where the rear-end is. Very hard to navigate all that.

Hey Zach,

The pumps themselves are grounded to the sending unit's pump mounting bracket. Both pumps touch the bracket like how the stock pump does.

Good deal. Thanks for letting me know Brian. I wasn't sure how the grounding issue with those pumps worked. Is this setup something that you are looking to produce and sell or is it just for your car? I remember PTP or some company doing a setup similar to yours. The setup looks really good though! +1 for doing another kick *** job!

Thanks, Zach. To answer your question, it was mainly just for my car but I do have all of the info needed with all the parts, hose ends, fittings, etc listed on a document I wrote as I was making the thing. Atleast roughly speaking, the setup should be fairly easy to copy for any other FC owner.
