Tranny Adapters !!

There is a guy from Midwest Customs that can make adapters to use the T56, Tremec, or T5 tranny with the 13B engine. His price per is $750 but if we get enough people he will do them for $500 each. We can retain the stock starter. I say we should go for it. They are made out of aluminum. Would anyone be interested in getting this? This means we can use the VIPER TRANNY in our rx7s!!!!!

send me an email or reply if interested.

Hmm.. Now, when putting in something like that, what about the power plant frame, and driveshaft?

Midwest customs will also offer a bracket for the power plant frame.

Also,if it comes down to shortening the driveshaft, you can either have someone near you do it or mail your driveshaft to them and they will shorten it.Shortening the driveshaft isn't as big of deal as everyone seems to think.

Quick question... and the anwer won't be a deal breaker... but is it possible to maintain the shifter position with a T56 in an FC? I know the T-56 is shorter... maybe a custom shifte would be able to make it work a bit better... I dunno, just brain farting.

One more thing, before I foget... is this place capable of making chromoly driveshafts or axels? We will need a custom driveshaft, and strengthening it would not be a bad idea... I plan on using a Kaaz rearend for now, and I thnk I'd like to use chromoly axels on that as well.

Not sure about retaining the stock location but he seems to think so.He is still going to need to do some final measurments on this.He is also able to do the driveshafts, axles too.

Good thing about this is we will be able to use a proshifter.

Is he building this off of a 3rd gen? Does he need an FC to use as a model? If so, I'm in on this deal anyhow, and if he's close (I'm taking it that they are located in St Louis vicinity), I'd happily drag my car down there for them to mock up on my vehicle... that way he can get precise measurements for an FC driveshaft as well... let me know if there is anything I can do.

He is located right here in Fairview Heights IL so it's close to you Nick.He is basing this so far off of a 3rd gen but if you want to bring your car down here for him to mock up off it then he will.Don't worry, your car won't sit around forever. He will start work on it right then and there.

Only changes between the FC and the FD should me tranny mounting and driveshafts. These adapters should adapt the Tranny to the bell housing. Im still researching if we can use the stock t56 imout shaft and what not but this guy can make it for anything. Of course shifter positionm will not match up exactly, but it should be close.

I'll talk to Marvelspeed, I know they are going to be racing next year, probably all motor, so they may want one as well. Not for sure though. Someone post a link to this in the 20B section... I know quite a few guys in there that would most likely jump all over this.

Off topic, but can this guy make a custom anti-sway bar for us 3rotor FCs? What about rollcages. Resource or Greg, you seem to know what this place can do, could you either post here, or email me or PM with some info? I want my car on the 1/4 mile next spring.

This thread WILL NOT DIE! At least 3 or 4 of us are in... how many more do we need?

I'm open to taking my car down there... he can have it for a few weeks, I don't care... I don't feel like working on it in this weather anyhow... just as long as it wouldbe garaged, he can use it for a month or so.

So, the tranny adapter is going to be in the $500+ range, how much can we find a viper tranny for? I heard that the newer T56 trannies came with a bellhousing (unremoveable) and that if we were going to use a T56, we'd have to buy a competition one that did not have a bellhousing. Any insight on that? Anyone looked into prices on these T56s? I've tried, but I don't really know what I'm looking at.

could someone get a price quote on a Chromoly driveshaft and chromoly axels?

Dude!!! I may have to get it! Few questions - since I know jack about my new rex and even less about tranny's.

--- Any sort of warranty

--- Gear ratios (will they be ala vette, 540i, supra tt) I'd like to get above 60 in 2nd.

--- step by step instructions for a complete monkey with only duct tape and tie wraps.

--- oh yeah my gearshift **** won't work any more.

net-net -- if the install can be made as close to stupid-proof I'm in.

Not much can go wrong with the adapter so yes it will be warrantied. We are going to offer all the brackets to make this possible so it hshall be an easy install.Gear ratios will be the same as the Viper or C5 Vette so yes you can reach 60mph in 2nd.
