Word on the street is, alot of the big dogs are running these in their 1,000 hp 13B cars.

Heard something about them being unbreakable, if anything happens they'll just bend. In some extreme cases, people bending them back straight with a hammer and tossing them back in the motor.

FYI: you can buy them for $400 here: http://estore.websitepros.com/163642...y=Rotary+Parts

thanks viking... I just wanted to check around before I buy them. I was curious on how harsh they would be on the housings. I am alos concerned about exspansion. I was talking with a long time engine builder about them,. He said he has been making solid "unbreakable" seals for years.. He even pulled out a bag of them to show me. He said the down side was when they got hot they would expand and start wearing into the plates. Eventually they would warp but after trashing the plates. He quit using them. So it started to make me think about them more. I want a good seal but I do not want to have to pull this motor back out only after 1-2k miles.... I have another plan for an all out drag build up.... old school.....

is it really worth running an unbreakable seal ?
if it doesnt break , you`ll just break a side seal
best bet is always tunning

Well I have had bad luck with Atkins. Mine looked just like Ernie T's when his broke. Trashed my housings. I ran OEM 2 piece before that and they trashed everything! I was mainly hoping to get a seal that would warp rather than break. Of course tuning is the answer but I doubt the way I will abuse this next motor its going to last (fingers X'ed) a complete season....... Just too many factors.

are these are the same as the south coast rotary seals? which for the pictures they look very similar. if they are I am but I just closed my block a couple of days ago so i havent tested them i guess ill have some feedback once i get the car back on the road but ive heard nothing bad about them. if im not mistaken those are the ones sporty racing team is using and they have the fastaest 13B powered car. the guy at the auto parts store in Puerto Rico i bougth them from said that they went thru 65 very abussive passes and were still going so that tells you something.

I bet they are the same. Seems there may be quite a few out there selling the same ones with differant names.... But these come out of a shop in South FL area. I know Alex Lopez backs them also.. Only question I have on them is how they will be on nthe plates. Will they expand, wearing into the plates over time?

You are mistaken! Sporty uses NRS and it's NRS ceramic power seals that made the record run. 3mm 1pc

I'm really curious on how driveability is...
It seems people only use these for track cars,
how about cold starts, housing wear?
or even throwing meth injection into the mix.

Any info from anyone? Im about to order a set but it will be about 3 weeks before I expect to fire my car up for the first time. I will be using them with used housings that are in pretty decent shape, probably 30-50k miles on them.

glassman,
seems like you need to get sporty to represent your product better. there seems to be a lot of misinformation about what seals they're using, which is a disservice to you since you are sponsoring them.

^^
I appreciate your comments.
It seems that most of the confusion is stemming from an article printed in Supercompacto magazine where it states that the engine has 2mm apex seals from Australia. I have contacted Supercompacto and have advised them of the error and also asked for the source of information used to write up the article. If someone is deliberately supplying misinformation I want to know about it. I am still waiting for them to respond.

Just so we can remove all doubt, I spoke to Gaby himself just before they broke the record. You see they had a set of NRS 3mm 1pc seals in the engine for over 1 year that ran the 7.15 second pass. One of the seals broke (pics in the NRS thread) and Gaby had sent them back to me to check out. When I called him to discuss the remaining 5 seals which we later determined were perfect to use again he asked me to overnight another 3mm 1pc set which he then installed them in the engine that made the world record 6.97 sec pass right after. This comes straight from Gaby himself and there is further proof in the Eddie Colon interview where Eddie thanks NRS for the support.

I know the truth, the Sporty crew knows the truth and now so does everyone on rx7club. That's all that really matters in the end anyway. What good is it for anyone to take credit for someone elses achievements? I don't know but it sure seems to happen and I certainly only want credit where credit is due. Maybe it's jealousy as we make more power on 3mm 1pc ceramic seals than others on 2mm 2pc steel seals at the same boost levels. All I know is my conscience is clear.

Happy trails
Sven

damn that sucks that missinformation was the reason i bought the seals I bought. I still haven't heard anything bad from them so well see. on another note I did a little research and the seals i got are different to the ones on this thread. these ones I got are actually from australia and the bigger part of the seal is black and the little corner piece is metal color and I guess they are only made and distributed by SCR so I guess Ill post how they worked for me once I get my car back on the road. has anyone had any experience with them yet? It's just a quick question i dont want to hijack or guide the thread out of track.

again, I'm thinking about ordering a set of ALS seals, i have gotten good feedback on them from racers using methanol. im intrested in hearing if anyone has used them in a gasoline motor on high boost? any expansion issues? warpage, housing damage?

i know that there may be major diffrences in seal performance in a methanol car compared to a c16 car. i learned this the hard way with my current seals. anybody have some info? or am i gonna have to use stock seals and cross my fingers at 38psi?

These seals are fairly new to the scene and your not going to find a lot of info besides drag racing. Call Edgar at E&J autoworks and ask him. He has just as much experience as anyone else with these seals. And for the record i couldn't be happier with mine but only time will tell for sure.
