The engine isn't the expensive part of the swap.

The engine itself is not expensive at all. It's the cost of other stuff and making the 20B fit. It's not a drop in swap like you would think how a CRX drops a B16 engine straight in.

I just love the text with the add:

JDM 20B TWIN TURBO 3 ROTOR RX7 ENGINE W/ TRANSMISSION

Not a mention anywhere of the Cosmo it came out of. What morons.

They pocket a couple hundred on shipping as well.
I don't recall that company having the best reputation but I could be wrong - you'd have to ask in the Canadian Forum.

hell even if the thing had every apex seal and the rotor housings trashed, just the 20b specific hardware alone probobly would be worth about that much, even if an rebuild was needed.

$2,500 is about right for a 20b core, any more would be too much. As said above, its not the 20B that makes a 20B swap expensive, its everything else.

Just fitting a 13B in a miata is a $10,000 plus deal and thats doing a lot of the fabrication yourself.

i'd put a 13b in a miata for a lot less than that....

but their diffs blow up with 130 hp... what would they do if that were doubled or tripled?

TII diff conversion from www.racingmazda.com would fix that problem.

Not all 20b's are created equal. Some are worth more money than others cause they have a different Eshaft that is stronger. Also, dont forget its used and for all you know it might be rebuild time which would add a ton of money, especially if it needed new housings. The fan and intake pipe look just like they did in the 2nd gen rx7's so the engine is probably pretty damn old, especially if its never been rebuilt before.

Exactly....Just do what I did. I made the person who sold me my engine tell me what series engine it was before hand. When he told me it was a D-series engine, I jumped all over it.
