Sizing an IC core for a T2

I'm getting ready to order an intercooler core for my 1990 T2. I'm looking for the largest intercooler that will fit in there, but I don't want something as huge as the NPR large intercooler core. I'm sure that plenty of people have already done measurements and fitting, so I figure "Why reinvent the wheel?". So, let me know how big of a core you got up front how it is working out for you.

I've read that the Spearco intercooler part#2-180 (3.5” X 13.0” X 17.0”) will fit. That's with the core assembly part#2-235. Hope this helps.

You may want to try reinventing the wheel, because you may not want to route your IC piping the same way as someone else. Just because someone got a certain IC to fit, doesn't mean that you will like what they had to relocate or cut out to do it.

BTW, I wedged a Spearco 2-182 FMIC in my FC, but it is highly modified to say the least. I wish I could let you know how it works, but I haven't finished the project yet. It does fit, though.

That's on the "20B Assmaster" (AKA Frankenseven). My T2 only has the standard "ghetto" mods, and retains the stock IC.

Spearco makes a great core, assembly number 2-247, it fits perfect right between the front metal supports for the bumper. With endtanks its 26" wide, and 8" tall. The gap between the supports is not even 26½"! It fits excellant. I suggest getting both endtanks inlet/outlet to point upwards, with a 45degree angle at the bottom, and then you have perfect room to run a 2½" pipe in and 90 down to it. Make a cutout on each side of the radiator for the piping. And you are good to go!

Hey, that sounds good! I had to have a whole cut in my radiator support for the greddy kit that was on there before... you think I could use the same hole or would I have to cut another?

Sounds like I'll be getting that core. I love how it fit up front like that, looks good.

Do you have a good source for Spearco cores with end tanks? Where did you get yours?
