The both of you need to relax. You are both probably right, and maybe you are both totally wrong!! Wait until the damn engine is out and people start tweaking it, then we will find out!

Like I said before, everything works in theory

Aw, come on AJC13B...we're relaxed Peejay and I are just having fun talking about something we both enjoy.

Truth be told, I agree with you AJC13B. I don't *know* that the RENESIS will be more powerful (though that is my expectation) and I won't *know* until the thing is in production and people start modding it. I think Peejay is making just as many valid points as I am...I'm just playing devil's advocate to foster what I'm finding to be a fun conversation about a topic I enjoy.

As you've already pointed out, there are two ways to scavenge. 1) Let the intake charge help push out the exhaust. 2) Use the vacuum behind the exhaust pulse to draw out the exhaust gas.

Is overlap really as critical to performance on a rotary? You already said it wasn't "because on the rotary the intake and exhaust ports are spaced well away from each other and the rotor is kind of in the way". If that's true, then the lack of overlap won't really hurt performance on the RENESIS. As for the exhaust pulse, judging by the fact that the RENESIS makes peak power at such a high RPM, it must be doing a good job of scavenging. If it wasn't, peak power would occur at a much lower RPM. The side exhaust ports will scavenge very well.

Who cares about fully scavenging the chamber and maximum power (and rough idles ) ? We do!
We sure do, except for that rough idle part

Smooth idles annoy me, I want the car to rock when I'm at a stoplight

Higher compression really helps power...

If you like that rocking sensation so much, just be like jimlab and get a V8

Yeah yeah yeah....you and your higher compression....I will concede that if the compression turns out to be as high as you think it will be, then my RENESIS dreams will be forever crushed

Will lower comp rotors be able to be used in a RENESIS?

Like sandsthrough the hourglass....
