Can you use S4/S5/S6 Rotor Bearings on the Renisis E-shaft?

Or do you have to use Renisis Bearings, and if you do do RX8 Rotor bearings fit in S4/S4/S6 rotors?

As long as the clearances are right, there should be no problem.

I built an 89 Turbo motor using RX-8 stationary gears and e-shaft with the 89 Turbo rotors and bearings.

Did you have any issue w/ the lack of sealing o-ring on the Rx8 rear stationary gear?

the motor he's talking about is mine (well, he built one like that for me anyways :P)

and still has no oil leaks at the sealing o-ring.. we just put RTV there and it seemed to work fine.

Yeah, you have to port match the oil feed hole on the rear stat gear to line up with the oil filter feed in the rear iron, then put a nice bead of high temp silicon around the base of the stat gear where the o-ring normally goes.

Never had a problem so far, and I've put together quite a few of them like this.

Its not built in, thats the problem.

The older stationary gears have a small o-ring around the base of them where they mount to the rear iron. The new Renisis stat gear doesn't have anything, just a machined flat surface, so RTV sealant of some kind is needed with use of the older irons.

Sure but not everyone has access to a lathe to do such a thing. Its definatly possible tho.

Did you have to rebalance the engines with the RX-8 eshaft? I wasn't going to worry about it because I could do it at work but I got fired on Friday, so no longer have personal access to the machinery.

These shafts are .6lbs. lighter than the earlier 13B shafts. The main journal diameters are approximately one-half thou smaller, and there is a one-half thou taper in the rear main journal.

Yeah, RX-8 e-shaft has a tapered rear journal like the MFR race e-shafts so you don't have to taper clearance the rear half of the rear stat gear bearing for high rpm duty like when using earlier standard e-shafts.

When I measured my RX-8 eshaft it had the same taper on both the front and rear journal.
