oh sorry its because methanol is used mainly for its cooling ability and knock resistance in turbo motors. you really wont see any performance increases on a carbed NA motor. yes it does have the potential to add hp but not in the ways that it does on a turbo motor.

Please do some research before you make a comment. Plenty of high horsepower PPorts are running alcohol. To name a few Jesus "Kilo" Padilla, Ken Scheepers, Rene Franco, Travieso and quite a few others. https://www.rx7club.com/rotary-drag-racing-167/rene-rx-7-10-5%40124-all-motor-598653/

I wouldn't do it with a carb, fuel injection would be much more appropriate for alcohol use.

The latest issue of Circle Track magazine has a good article talking about all the extra maintenance you are required to do just to clean the Methanol out of the fuel system between races in order to prevent it damaging components.

I dont think you can get enough compression ratio to make it really worthwhile in a rotary, maybe fill in the rotor chambers! most good Methanol engines run 14-16-1 ratio , if you can get an N/A engine to start to go into detonation, with proper ign. timing, then you may get Methanol to help. 87 octane has more heat energy per Lb. than a lot of other fuels except Diesel fuel. just some thoughts on your idea.Ron

aggressive now are we? trust me i know what im talken about, sorta

any way i was under the assumption they run pure alcohol, not just inject it. and if you did read my post i did say there are horsepower gains to be made with alochol/meth though further cooling the intake charge and allowing for more aggressive ignition timing. BUT i was saying that in this case with a carb'd street motor the amount of money he would spend would be much better spent some were else, in my opinion. which is further helped by the above 2 posts.

so dont get all uppity about it :P

Yes you can and that's speaking from actual experience.

Now there are many different techniques that can be put into use to even further benefit from the use of alcohol/methanol as the main fuel even if it's done with a carb.
The main benefit off course is to take advantage of it's cooling effects may it be by tuning and engine building techniques.
