Recommended Enginge Builders

Hey guys,

I'm looking to build a solid motor capable of 500 rwhp or so once mine let's go. I know of several shops in my area but would like to know of more options and opinions of other shops people have used and their experiences.

p.s. Please no speeches on reliability...

Thanks,

~Anthony

Rotaryresurrection.com. He isnt too far away, has the best prices, offers powder coating services as well which you might as well PC all of your accessories while the engine is out to keep things looking nice. Dont be fooled by his low pricing, he will build an engine as nice as you would like. He will also build with ALS seals(which recommend) and can do any porting or pretty much anything you would like.

Kevin built over 30 engines for me before I started building myself and I never once had an issue with any of his builds. Greaty guy and great pricing for quality work.

I don't have any experience with Rotary Resurrection, so I can't comment there.

I do have a good amount of experience with the shop, PFS, in Frederick, MD though... DO NOT go there! PFS will charge you way too much, take way to long, and gives you an engine with VERY sloppy tolerances that has a high chance of failing in under 5k miles.

If you don't go with RR and decide to head north than go with Speed1 in PA or IRP in NJ. Both those shops track the engines they build with high rates of success.

My current engine is being built by Brian from Speed1, the care and attention to detail he puts into a build is incredible! Once I replace the pfc I'm sure I'll be able to run 500whp on this motor all day long for at least 20-30k miles, and longer if i keep it down to the mid-400's..

We can also build the engine for you. My builder has been building rotaries for 25+ years and I will put his engine against anyone's. Our shop is in Asheville but I drive through VA pretty regularly

Pm me for pricing

We're up in NY so it's a further toss for you. We offer CNC services, large part ultrasonic cleaning, cryo-treating, ceramic coating, race clearance rotors, rotor housing resurfacing (better than the rest), blue-printed race engines, dyno tuning, the list goes on. I'm sure you can find someone close to you but if you need any of your parts taken care of give us a shout!

Amazing how many people have become "engine builders" over the years, I'm starting to feel old, lol. Ideally find someone local more importantly find someone who will build it and tune it at the same place, the finger pointing game gets old really quick when you are out money and a car.

I have engines here running 900whp for multiple seasons no tear downs and same tune. I have no doubt about the engines we assemble here. Neither has anyone who's seen them run all day long at the track. Putting that in perspective it don't mean crap when building a engine for circuit/road racing, those require different needs to be reliable. Drag engines on Methanol run much cooler than a 13B going for 30mins at the local track. "Softer" seals are a poor choice for any rotary going to see time on a road course or any serious mileage. Make sure you are clear with your intentions to your builder and make sure they have built engines used for that purpose. I can think of a few builders on this forum who build nice street cars, I wouldn't want them anywhere near building a 1khp 13B, I can also think of a few drag car builders I wouldn't want near a road race 13B or vice versa. It's important you get a good understanding of what you're after and who can help you reach those goals.

Hey Sean,

It's me Anthony with the 6266 kit you're building lol. Decided to go with Kevin Landers, still bouncing back between als and OEM seals though. I'm going to run the motor I have with the 6266 kit for a little while longer since it still seems to be running quite well atlhough it is a little down on compression. If it cracks, no big deal since all the irons will be getting replaced anyways.

I'm shooting for 500whp as well and my engine was built by Banzai-Racing. I haven't finished the build yet though so it hasn't started up but I'm sure it will be more than capable of that power.

If the quality of the engine is anything like the service, I would HIGHLY recommend Banzai.
Other shops in the auto-performance industry should take a lesson from how they treat their customers.

Anthony, didn't realize this was you, sounds like a plan sir, I'm still sticking to the OEM seals though can't beat them for what you intend to do. Shoot me a email if you need anything.
