Ran 10.8 over the weekend :(
Fresh gearbox was so damn tight, couldn't hit gears.
Last pass of the night I hit all the gears and fried the clutch when I hit 3rd and 4th. Went through for a 10.8 @ 123mph.
Best pass of the weekend was a 10.8 @ 131 but I shifted gears on that pass like I was driving Miss Daisy
The twin plate thats in the car is being yanked and a stronger one put back in...

Banned. I got OWNED!!!
Steve, is the car in the same tune as it was during the turbo titles ?
Do you put down the difference in mph just due to the shifts or do you think the ambient conditions were against you. How hot was it there on the day ?
I am sure you will go faster than before with a stronger clutch and a stronger left arm ! (swap hands Steve)
Can bill do anything to the improve the shift action of the box, or do you just have to put more miles on it ?

The box just needed to bed in. The last pass of the night each gear slotted in nicely. Its just a shame that the clutch decided to give up at the same time
Ito - Yeah man, I am happy it ran that 10.8 with slipping clutch On that pass it ran 7.0 @ 103 to half track and the clutch started slipping as soon as I punched 3rd, a fair way before half track
On a side note, a Dyson prepared first gen ran 9.9 @ 141! Its a street car with supra 5 speed and TA45 running lots of boost!

Very impressive on that Dyson Rx7. Stock fuel rail and stock fuel lines on a 1988 intake manifold and looks like a 1988 engine very impressive. For that car 2 run 9.9 it had to make about 550rwhp or more all that power from a stock fuel system like that. Steve did that car repeat the 9 second run??

lots of cars here in aus running in the 9's and some into the 8's with the standard fuel rails, they will flow more than enough fuel, i have standard 88 fuel rails on my car it has more than enough fuel there for 550 hp.

Nice man thats the kind of beast I am working on building.... how much boost were you running in that thing??? what kind of port and what kind of a supsension and axel setup are you running in her??? I noticed you were running wrinkle walls on that car... is that a street car or a deticated track car??? Nothing better then seeing a 1st gen in the 10's man... Love the car...

AJC....you might try a Jerico (downshiftable type tranny) I have no idea what you might be running now, but it sounds like you have sychronized tranny in there....The Jerico is synchroless and lest you shift without the clutch, but it is NOT a full clutchless tranny. In order to shift all you do is lift 5-10% and the shifter slams into the next gear regardless of RPM. They cost $3600 US and can handle 1200HP/1000 ft/lbs

Intake ports are stock, just cleaned up for flow. Port timing is the same I believe. Suspension is standard springs front and rear with standard shocks front and Koni at the back.
Diff is a Borg Warner, 31 spline billet axles, 4.10 LSD centre.
The car is a street cat turned into a drag car for a while. Best time is a 10.32 @ 133 and thats it for slicked up racing....

If I was going to continue drag racing, I would go to a jerico or similar, but Im not so I won't
