problems with MSD 6A
i have a 6A mounted in my engine bay right infont of my Greddy SMIC. the place that i have it mounted doesn't get any air at all. you can fry an egg on that 6A.
i just started having problems with it, two days ago when the temperature outside is in the 90s.
the car will run good but as soon as i stop at a light for more than 5 mins and then try to take off the car just dies and doesn't want to start. it sounds as if its flooded but i checked the plugs and they are fine. and as the engine shuts of the tach just go crazy. then if i let it cool down for 2-3 minutes the car just starts up normally.
is it just because the MSD box is over heating? or is it messed up?
i by passed it today and the car ran great and didn't die on me.
what do you guys think?

Electronics that get overheated can get real flakey and problems can be intermittent or permanent.
If you overheated it to the point that it has given problems they will not go away.
That is a very common box. Do you have any buddies that will let you borrow another 6a for testing?
good luck

i can't test any other boxes but when i took the car to a Mustang performance shop in town they told me that it should work fine if i put it in a cool place. i've installed it when it was cold outside and it ran great and i just got my car back from the shop, where it was sitting for about 2 months. so this is basically the first summer for that MSD box and it started to act up when the weather got up to the 90s. i'll relocate it and hook it back up and see how the car runs.

I *think* the 6AL only allows for one limiter and I am not real sure if there would be a workaround for that. You would require some sort of piggyback multistage module at the very minimum for what you are wanting to do.
