premix for a renesis engine?

i might be getting a renni as a project motor. it may or may not get the stock computer. if it does, no worries--stock oil injection

if it doesn't, anyone have ideas on how much premix to run? i was thinking roughly half of the norm, but wanted some other opinions.

obviously it'll shoot out the exhaust ports if the level gets *too* high, but i was just curious about how much to use..

thanks

"shoot out the exhaust port?"

with the little i know, (just making an opinion dont kill me) i think the renni can take the same 1oz-1gallon ratio, since your stock omp stuffie dont work correct? so.. worse case for wot is around 1-1 so... well... idk, so whats shooting out of the exhaust port?? i am serious, i do not get that statement.

If you don't get the stock computer, I would run at least 1oz per gallon for normal usage. The Renesis housings are suppose to have an even better coating than the Fd's. The Fd housings didn't need as much metering from the OMP as compared to the 2nd gens.

yea, but remember, the **** gets recycled from one event to the next, so at an oz/gallon, it might build up a puddle until it actually reaches the level of the exhaust ports.

have you snooped around rx8club.com to see if anyone over there has any concrete ratios? i guess this may be rarely charted territory, so if you get the project together before you get a definitive answer, maybe you should start at half an ounce per gallon and then work your way up if necessary.

You shouldn't have to worry about changing the ratio for a Renesis vs a 13B. It's the same sized engine you are trying to lubricate.

Does anyone honestly thing you will have a problem with it puddling in the engine? I'm not sure if I should laugh at that or not. Give me a break. We are talking about a few ounces over several hundred miles. Figure out how much that is per engine revolution. It's amazing it can lubricae anything. The only way it could puddle is if you were literally pouring it into the engine and then it probably wouldn't even run.

The Renesis isn't so different that this should be an issue. Just do what you know.

The renesis engine need premix more so than any other rotary engine. This is a big problem and concern for Mazda. Anyone who has taken apart a renesis has seen this. I heard that they were even considering issuing a service bulletin to retrofit all rx-8's with premix since todays oils are even less suitable for oil injection than they were in the 90's... not fact, just what i have heard from others in the industry.

Pre-mix is a good idea or adapt you OMP to inject a suitable oil. The same ratio's apply to the renesis as earlier rotaries.

i've done 7 or 8 renesis motors and i haven't seen any abnormal wear on the rotor housings, except for 2 turbo engines.

the problem with those things is carbon buildup. MASSIVE carbon buildup. water injection for all turbo renesis motors.
