Premix and Alcohol?

Does anyone have experience running alcohol on a rotary? Just wondering if you have to use more 2 stroke oil in your premix when using alcohol. Seeing that alcohol will break down the oil and that you are using twice the amount of fuel will you need to up the amount of 2 stroke oil also. Any info will be much appreciated.

I know RedLine and other manufactures make "alcohol fuel lube" products specifically for alcohol burning engines. Are you asking because you are thinking of running exclusively alcohol for extended periods or just a temporary thing to get through emissions? Just for a couple gallons in the tank I wouldnt worry about it but any more than that I would definately up the premix

No strictly dragstrip car. Actually it's a friend of mine he's running into a problem of premature wear across the beam of the apex seals. It's a consistent wear pattern across all the apex seals and I was trying to find out if insufficient lubrication would aide in this premature wear. He currently is running Atkins 3mm seals I told him to run either the stock 3mm or buy ceramics. He is running 10 1680cc alcohol injectors with a 1100cfm holley style throttlebody. Pushing in excess of 35psi boost pressures and this is in a Datsun B110 1200. I'm just trying to gather up some info for him to help him out.

We should have an entire alcohol disscussion. Does alcohol color the plugs like race gas? (enabling you to "read" them as if you would a standard plug) Has anyone ever tried "staging" it on a street car type setup? Example: Primary injectors are fed with pump gas, then a second pump and reg feeds the secondaries with alcohol, and they only come on when under boost. Can you light alcohol with a "street" ignition such as a 6AL, or do you need a hardcore 7AL and nasty coil to get alcohol to light? How do the timing advance requirements change when running alcohol, if at all? This is not meant to be a thread hijack, and if you would rather not have these questions presented here, just ask and I will edit my post to remove them.

I would try swiching to one of those OMP's that you can hook a sump for 2 stroke oil to... I forget who makes them but if you search Im sure you will find them... That way you would go back to injecting the oil right into the combustion chamber and the fuel won't break down the oil, you may still have a problem the preset 100:1 ratio sence you are running roughly twice the fuel...

I've never run alcohol in a rotary, but I run it in my 2 drag cars. Turbo sb Chevy and a turbo 4 cly. The spark plugs do turn color in a non-turbo car they will get brown lil more gray. Most the time in a turbo car with very high boost u have so much fuel going to the motor it some what cleans the plug off. Also in a drag car motors only running for very short burst. As for ignition on the Sb Chevy I run the msd 10 to get it to light a 6 wouldn’t have the power. Then on the 4cly I run a 7al. With an alcohol drag car your really don’t have to retard the timing. Some people do but I run a locked out timing. Set it at say 34 35 and go. Most drag cars you launch at near full boost off the trans brake…

Redline makes a 2-stroke pre-mix oil specific for alcohol. PN 83522 40504 for a quart.

From my experience with methanol/alcohol I use a castor base oil for pre-mix. Klotz and VP Racing Fuels both offer great castor based oils for pre-mixing. I prefer the RC-3 racing castor from VP Racing.
Pre-mix ratios are normally 8 to 10 oz per 5 gallons of fuel.
