One Piece Steel Apex Seals

Whats up everyone, it’s been awhile since I’ve posted up on this site as the search function has been quite helpful. I’ve just finished a full bridgeport on my s5 t2 block using Mazdatrix bridgeport template and Pineapple racing exhaust port template. It has come time to begin the rebuilding process. I’ve heard good things about Pineapple Racing’s heavy duty rebuild kit for the fc and decided to go with the full kit for rebuild. The kit initially comes with the choice of either stock 2pc 2mm steel seals or 2pc ceramic seals. My understanding is, with both rotor housings notched for the bridgeport, 2pc apex seals won’t work. I’ve done some searching on here as well as many other ‘google’ searches pertaining to 1 piece apex seals but the only thing I can find seems to be Mazdatrix ceramic “gold” and “silver” apex seals. Being I will be going with a turbo setup, I’ve also heard ceramic seals don’t handle boost well at all. That being said, can anyone recommend a good set of 1 piece steel apex seals? Or another plausible option... seals will be going in a new pair of s5 turbo rotors.

Thanks a bunch,

Nick

Just received my heavy duty seal and rebuild kit from Pineapple racing. I opt to get the stock 2pc 2mm steel apex seals despite the block being full Bridgeport with both housings notched. Like stated in my initial post, I’ve always read that 2pc seals wouldn’t work with a full bridge due to the corner piece fall falling into the port, unless I’m miss understanding. I mocked up one of the apex seals last night with the mated housings to kinda visualize that corner piece in place. So now I guess my questionis, will these seals work? It looks like there’s more than enough material on the bridge to support the outer edge of the seal. Pics below of mock up with and without corner seal.

I've run Atkins apex seals for 50-70k miles on a full bridge port with no drama. Naturally aspirated application. They do like more oil, I found that power kept increasing up to 50:1 premix, Racing Beat recommends even more on a turbo engine using Mazda seals. So a turbo app with Atkis seals, maybe run 20:1?
