Thanks for the updates ... I still plan on buying some but still gathering some cash, I will be doing Supercharger though (A centrifugal supercharger) would you still recommend the 1 piece for that? It won't be a race car, but a fun weekend semi warrior kinda car. It would probably still be my DD too. So gas mileage improvements would also be great.

I will be getting the rebuilt motor cryo'd and set up for BNR Stage 3 twins, and the car will be a weekend car, and a few track days a year. The car will be driven fairly often. I know the 1 peice are stronger, but do you recommend those over the 2 peice for a car driven so often? I plan on running in the range of 350RWHP.

If I have been informed correctly, this car has the same set of NRS Ceramic Power Seals in the engine for 1 1/2 years.

Sven- just a note...these seals have saved me two rebuilds so far. I am having some weird problems with fuel starvation after installing mu Apexi BNR33 pump. Mu old pump was a SUpra pump and I could run full boost with the gas light on. Not so true with the Apexi, I leaned out to 13.8 on the wideband at 17 pounds of boost and then totally ran out of fuel twice and the engine lived....whew. If anyone knows why I am experiencing fuel starvation after only a fuel pump change...please let me know.

There have been several inquiries on how the NRS Ceramic Power Seals would work in combination with Cermet rotor housings.

Below is a picture of a Cermet housing that was running NRS 3mm Black seals. This housing has over 60,000 miles running time with the NRS ceramic apex seals.

No measureable wear was noticed on the ceramic apex seals and as you can see the housing looks PERFECT.

It doesn't get any better than this!

More pics will be posted as they come but it was hard getting a shot of the housings as the glare coming off them is nuts.

I have personlay seen indestructable apex seals abosolutley destroy rotor housing surface in 600 miles !
This sort of photo is testament to how damn good NRS ceramic seals are to a rotor housing.
People take note *****This is why MFR (mazda factory race team) use advanced ceramics for apex seals and NOT dubious quality steel from an industrial supply company*****

Yup, I think they were some of the first ones done. The seals used are 3mm 2pc and have been in the engine since Dec 2004.

Notice how there is no gouge on the housing edge? That's because on my 2 pc ceramic seal design the wedge piece never touches the rotor housing.

I am curently breaking in a 3mm 1pc (grey)/ JHB cermet (A) engine. (break in sucks!!)

This engine was NOT cheap. I did my home work before having the engine built.

IMO ceramic/cermet it the top of the game at this point in time. Down the road some thing else may come on line that puts this on the back shelf. But right now if you want the best. This is it. End of story.

I will be following suit in my next build with these housings and seals. I was waiting for those pictures you posted. Badass is all I can say. Those housings almost look like new chrome they're so shiny. Keep us updated with pics from all the builds using this combo.

That has to rate as one of the single stupidest questions i have ever herd asked on here?

* How else do you show someone the condition of your product after X miles if you dont pull it apart for them to see

you got a photo of the housing and also a report on the condition of the apex seal after 60 000miles ? would you be more satisfied if someone said "mate its still together but its all going great, trust me"
^ **** that ! I would rather see a tear down inspection done personaly !
This is what Mazda technicians did to the 787B motor that won LeMans with similar quality of parts being revield *funny that given the rotor housings had the exact same coating and also use silicone nitride apex seals* i dont think i read anywhere of people in the crowd saying "why are you pulling it apart"

I'm curious about the seal champfering. Is that effective at increasing dynamic compression and reducing leak down past the seal?

Any test results available to show what effect the champfering has compared to non champfered seals?

Hey slo, I only made a few sets of the chamfer type and yes that was the idea to get a 3mm seal to seal like a 2mm seal. The only data I received on them was that they functioned well but the trailing edge held some carbon on the flat of the chamfer. Not exactly what we want to see.

I believe the concept can still be achieved but would involve a tighter radius with a tangental blend to the vertical sides.

Pete - Lay of the Jitter Juice & stop being so defensive! I wasnt aware that this was the "mule" that you would be stripping at predetermined milage marks to gauge wear & tear. As for the condition of the housing & seals at 60k Miles - I am MOST Impressed & WILL be using them in my own 3 20Bs that I will be building in the next while. I wait in anticipation of seeing this motor again at 100K miles!
