Well it wouldn't be the first time I made a mistake but doesnt the spinning rotor induce centrifical force on the seals?

My question is: what do those results mean as far as the seals are concerned? I'm just seeing that you're making more HP after doing some mods.

ceramic apex seals????

If these seals are that good, why wouldnt the factory use them , they could farm out production, and get a darn good price, and end forever the weak link in there incredible engine. and dont say they dont know about them!! this is the biggest thread on the whole club site.??????

He is demonstrating to you that these seals are withstanding that kind of power/torque/rpms.

Apex seals

NOW! if you were manufacturing an engine and it had a well known fault, why would you not ,even if it cost did extra money, not try to correct the problem. just to show the world you can manufacture a better engine, especially if the engine has reached CULT status in the world ! maybe this is just to logical. well! maybe Mazda engineers are CULTISTS themselves! DARN never thought of that till now! You have to admit that Mazda rotarys are a little unusual in the world of transportation, but i understand that they have some DIESEL rotarys runnin around, and they also have some experimental HYDROGEN rotarys on line. what kind of APEXs would they put in those engines were money was not an issue, for R&D. just tossin insome logical thought here. ^ The factory team (mazdaspeed) did use them in 1990 in the 787B R26B 4 rotor engine (won LeMans 24hr race outright !)...... Their racing seals were made of same material (silicone nitride)

Where cost or tuning stupidity/ignorance is not a factor, and quality and performance are the BIGGEST priority, then you find the best engineering solutions are used

Sven I'll be trying to shatter the nitrous record. I will be going Xtreme with my nitrous hp.. I might want to use your seals..

^^^Are you racers installing these in used rotors or new? Just a question on a thought I have. Even if a used rotor specs out, the groove still shows a little wavyness sometimes.

I guess I'm asking if the ceramics need the good even support of a new groove and conversely if a borderline groove might lead to breakage.

So would you install stock seals if the groove is outa spec?
I never install any apex seal into a groove that's out of spec.

Not to mention that any rotors with 2mm seals would have to be machined for the 3mm ceramics anyways.

Here's what Chris told me about their performance in his own words.

Initial start up

“Hey Sven.
Motor started right up today on it's first crank. After idling for a couple of hours the vacuum is up 1 or 2 inches. It's actually pulling about the same vacuum or a little more than with the stock 3mm seals. Tomorrow some more break-in and a little tuning to get it running a little smoother because the primary inj. are now 1600cc vs 720cc. I'll keep you informed.”

After some more tuning and seat in

“The seals are performing beautiful so far.
Trust me I'm putting a lot of stress on the seals, not abuse, just stress that would have normally started to warp the factory two piece apex seals or flattened the apex springs.
I have not actually verified the compression as of yet but going by what I can see so far it's not even being effected by back to back runs at that power levels. The vacuum is perfect run after run even after a full pull it settles right back to a perfect idle and vacuum reading something which with stock seals after continuous running and heat soak would have already started to compromise sealing until the motor cools down.”

Jesus. After reading that and watching the video, I guess I should't be so nervous about using a steady state dyno

As long as the tune up is good and you have the correct parts to support it, then it doesn't really matter what type of dyno you use.
If you have doubts then probably you should not be using a steady state dyno.
I'm a firm believer in that if load is not being applied during tuning you're not really tuning!

Drag car videos running NRS Ceramic Power Seals

Here's some videos:

La Sarita was running in the 7.7's (??) prior to using NRS seals, thier goal was to run in the 7.5's. I am happy to oblige and then some.

Colon Motorsports Dyno Run, Dyno Graph and 7.35 Run

Here's some goodies on the Colon car:

The 7.35 run was the second time out with the car. Oh so close to their own record. Wont be long now. Gaby tells me the engine has a lot more power and they have set their pb mph record of 186 mph.

LaAnais 3/4 Chassis 13B World Record

Ahh and last (for now) but certainly not least.

Here's some vids of LaAnais. Prior to running NRS they were running in the 7.6's - 7.7's (??). I know someone will correct me if I'm wrong

The first time out with NRS seals they broke their pb record with a 7.57 pass. On the coming weekend they had a match race against LaAtrevida and smoked thier own record with a blistering pass of 7.40 @ 181 mph. Thus setting a new 3/4 Chassis 13B world record. They also won the match backing up the record run with a 7.53 @ 180 mph.

Since then they have further lowered the record to 7.37 and have run their best mph of 184 mph. This record holds today almost 1 year later.
