nitrous injection switch

im gonna be putting nitrous into my 86 n/a in the next couple of months, and i just need to know how to set up the switch. should nos inject when the system is on and the gas pedal is all the way down? i know on movies the NOS is always injected with a push of a button on the steering wheel...what are some ways to set it up?
thanks

theres push to inject like in ghey movies, theres RPMs like you set the RPMS (NOS makes triggers in 200RPM increments) and then full throttle. My optimum set up would be on off switch (military jet pprotective cover type) then RPM reg to 5000RPM then when i floor it i would get the N2O. That way no low RPMs and itd be floored just where it should be. But thats only me
www.nossystems.com i think is the site im not sure. But good luck

Safest way to set it up would be a switch to arm the system, a switch that turns the nitrous on when the gas pedal is floored, and an RPM window switch that turns the nitrous on at a set RPM and off at another. MSD makes a switch like this and so does mallory. With this setup you don't have to worry about spraying too early, the system not shutting off too late (like hitting the rev limiter while spraying), spraying at half throttle. This lets you concentrate on driving and the road instead of a tach and a button.

The safety of the engine is vital in the installation process. You want to make certain that the NOS won't be delivered in a manner that is harmful to your motor. Anyway, I think that arming switch is a good idea, and that's the way I am going to go. The other would be the RPM injection and WOT, but I think this has too many factors involved to be stable.

95R2-89TII Ground Zero-

What do you mean by this:"The other would be the RPM injection and WOT, but I think this has too many factors involved to be stable."

These are safety switches, which make the nitrous system more reliable. Without the WOT switch you can inject nitrous when you are at idle. Then if you make a pass and let off the gas, the nitrous will still spray unless you switch it off. Say you make a pass, get squirly, and start focusing on controlling the car so you won't hit the wall or another driver. Did you rember to turn the nitrous off? BANG!! Too late. The RPM switch can also prevent this by shutting off the nitrous below a set RPM. Say you set it to com on at 2K-6K. You are in the clear. Without it you could be running through the gears...1 to 2,....2 to 3r.. oops missed 3rd. Now you have hit the revlimiter (say it is 6,200RPM) which has cut the fuel to the engine, but the engine is still getting nitrous and not enough fuel. That means that it is very lean and you know what lean does to a rotary...detonation, new engine unless you are lucky. The RPM switch adds that extra safety and control. I think every good nitrous kit has these items installed with it. Not every one has the money to buy one right after buying a nitrous kit, but they should be next in line on the wish list.

I'm not trying to be cocky, I just don't want to see nitrous keep getting a bad rap because people misuse it and claim it blew their engine under normal opperation. Nitrous is safe when used correctly and with the proper precautions.

Ya I would want safety precautions. Like I want it so that the NOS doesn't inject unless at WOT or above 4000 rpms as well. Wonder how hard it would be to do that. But of course you have to have the red flip-up switch. Whats NOS without that
