Mufflers!!!

I'm looking to buy a pair of mufflers for my '88 N/A. Anyone have any tips on what not to get, or what to get in particular? I'm looking for a definite increase in sound (a deep rumble would be nice) and an increase in power would be nice as well.

Also getting a cone intake, K&N is the best I assume?
Otherwise, I need rims. If you got 4 bolts for sale, write me at nima_taba@hotmail.com.

Thanks all,

Nima

I really like the Apexi N1 on the second gen....I have them on my 89 TII and they not only look great, but they sound really good too.

My '86 NA sounded and felt better with a single catalytic converter and the stock dual mufflers instead of the two pre-cats and single main. It also growled at WOT with a k&n cone filter. Just buy a $35 k&n cone and buy/make an adapter (or get an '89-'91 MAF sensor ). K2rd sells the adapters for $25, but I fabricated one for free. If you really want a deep rumble, just take off everything after the stock exhaust manifold; there's quite a power and sound increase with that route as well . Apexi N1 and Racing Beat Powerpulse mufflers are popular though the powerpulses come more highly reccomended from what I've heard. Any way you slice it, a rotary isn't going to make much of a rumble unless you're putting around at 1500 rpm.

here's a picture of the cone to maf adapter

Looking for a complete cat back or just mufflers? I have the Borla on my second gen (most people on the forum don't like it) but I love it. At the time it was the only all Stainless (a must for me) and the price was right. It sounds really nice, not ricey, more like a deep mellow sound and gave a good boost in power too!

Greddy's are too expensive. Power Extreme is discoutinued now and hard to get. and they currently dont make an exhaust for the T2 anymore

N1's cheaper and louder

the racing beat and mazdatrix full exhaust set ups are my favorite. Both will give the most about of horsepower, but will set you back big bucks.

.....

Well if you want to go all out, get the HKS titanium, a bit on the $$$ side of things, but with 102mm piping (4''), you can't beat the flow! The Apexi GT series w/ 95mm piping is your next best bet for ultra-flow!

Thats way too big for a NA, he would loser more power than he would gain, unless he drives a 10,000 rpms all the time. lol

I have a Pacesetter cat-back, sounds nice and deep. I also have a Bonez Superflo cat system though, so I dont know what it would sound like with the stock cat. The mufflers have twin stainless tips, gives it a unique look, but I like it.
