!!MazdaMan's T2 BUILD THREAD!
Hey everyones names dustin ive only had exsperience with NA rx-7's so when my buddie said he'd sell me this car i jumped on it right away! This thread is going to cover me slowly and with alot of your guy's help get this baby running and restored! I plane on this taking at least a year to a year and a half! soo lets move on too pics!! wee!!
As you walk up to the car it look's like its sad and has been forgotten.

Hmm always wanted those!

Interior looks plowed but its all there and just needs to be put back together!

The engine has been slightly dissasembled by me and my friend..

But the rest of the engine is back in the hatch!

Doesnt look half as bad from this side.

Yep fully rebuilt stocker!

Turbo!!

Well this is what im starting with, itll be a couple of months before i can rebuild the short block with a small streetport becuase im moving right now. But in the mean time im going to get another bumper and work on the interior ill post more pic's soon!

well, it looks like you've got your work cut out for you, but the hardest part is making the plan and it sounds like you've got that down. i'm allergic to stock, but i always respect it. good luck with it. keep posting your progress and pics are always welcome.
Whats better about the s5 turbo over the s4?
And right now the car is at a friends house until i pay him his cash next payday. Then i want to start putting the interior back together, and start ordering parts. Oh and the car will be stock long enough to break in and smog then im going to do a front mount setup,secondaries,safc2,fuel cut defender, turbo timer and some other things ill post later.

i second the S5 Turbo thing, but if you've already spent to have your S4 built, i wouldn't bother with it. it will probably be money lost for minimal gains. not enough that i'd bother with it ... what's done is done. least that's just me. sounds like you'll need money for other more pressing matters.
Well i wanted to upgrade the turbo later on, so im going to use this turbo for now. Then ill sell it towards another better turbo! But i didnt know the s5 turbo boosted more..My long term goal with this car is a streetable 375h-400hp.could i do that on stock primaries and 1000cc secondaries?
Does anyone know were i could get some bigger secondary injectors?..for later of course.

I was looking in the archives and came across an old thread about what you need to rebuild your engine. And you can get all the parts for around 600$" You know now im really thinking about trying it out myself! I sat and watched my last engine rebuilder rebuild my NA shortblock. I know right off the bat ill need an engine stand and adapter plate for the shortblock. I have a tq wrench and ive completed an auto to 5sp swap before so now i have to think about this!
One thing is i havent been able to get ahold of Ben the guy i would like to rebuild the block, but even then. i have a feeling the price has jumped to 1600+$ One other option is having rotaryresurection do it. I contacted him and its only a 1000$ but i have to ship it which is going to cost me another 250$ each way for a total of about a 1k added on too the 1k for the build.
Im putting a list together again since the old ones dont seem to match up anymore! You used to be able to get all the parts for a rebuild for around 5-600$ seems thats not the case anymore!
Im freaking tired right now worked 10hours today driving a 40ft bus..lol soo im going to have to wait until tomarrow for the list...And hey if anyone has one already or they know where to get good prices on seal's and stuff post up!!
Thanks!

may i make a suggestion?
disassemble the motor and clean/spec the parts before you start allowing any numbers to swim around in your head. $600 is probably not even close to what you'll reastically spend and i'm of the opinion that if it is, then you probably didn't "need" a rebuild.

About the only thing i cant do is press bearings and stuff i would have to take it to this shop nearby, but im looking at a s4 tII shortblock with a blown front apex seals for 250$ sound like a good deal?
Im headed to work right now wont get off until 10:30pm.
The S5 also spools slightly better due to it's superior twin scroll design, but if that is a rebuilt S4, don't waste your money again, just stick with it.
+1 to rebuilding yourself. Get the DIY video and you'll be greatly pleased with the results.
Also I might suggest a larger streetport or a half bridge since you will have the motor apart anyway. Don't lock yourself down to much with a really small streetport.
The larger the better

Yeah i think i might go with a large streetport albeit my first port job! this car will be a weekend warrior not a daily so that gives me more room. Wheew i just got off work! hopefully ill get to start on this thing around the first!
One thing that is going to be a problem is the engine was never fully put together and i have no idea how to! i have all the FSM's downlaoded and ive been going over them all, shouldnt be too hard but looking at the motor now and im like damn!..lol
But i know you guys will help me out!
Also i think everyone caught on to the rebuild price thing becuase now you cant really find all the parts seperate like you used too. and let's say a gasket kit which was once 180$ is now 290$..mazdatrix has a complete kit for 900$http://www.mazdatrix.com/getprice.as...MZTX-13-ROTORL. what do you guys think?
P:S sorry for the typos brain melted from driving all day...lol
