losing my mind, Port Phasing

I'm sure most of you are aware (especially with the CLR thread going right now) that CLR performs Port Phasing on rotors. I was at a website earlier today at work that mentioned that they performed it as well. I have been pulling my hair out trying to find it again for many hours now to no avail. Is anyone else aware of a company performing this service?

You should be able to take the rotors to a creative machine shop and have them perform the beveling / balancing, if you give them a drawing of where the bevel should go.

I did a very mild rotor bevel job (aka. rotor phasing) to my current engine the last time I had it apart, didn't rebalance or anything, just eyeballed the bevels and beveled the entire rotor corner per face, not just a small section. The bevels were very small (~2mm wide) compared to pro-beveled rotors.

Just doing this added some gnarly butt dyno results to the upper midrange (FC NA 6 port).

So yeah, I'd look at pics of the CLR rotor, estimate where they put the bevel, draw it out on your rotor, and find a machine shop with some reasonably intelligent machinists.

I know a guy with two brains in his head that I think can get it done. I wasn't sure how crucial the balancing was though. I guess it depends on where I wanna set my redline.

It's very crucial. If you think you can look at a picture and then do it to your rotors correctly, you'll be very displeased with the results. CLR's rotors are also lightened. Not something just anyone without prior experience can do.l

I realise that theirs are lightened, and I'm not too worried about that part of it. Do you think I could get decent results having it done at a machine shop, and then sending them with my rotating assembly to Racing Beat for balancing?

I think you are better off sending them to CLR, and paying the man for the technique he has perfected. Carlos can do the phasing and balance, one stop does all

Ditto. If you do it wrong, install them in your engine and something happens, that'll be much more expensive than if you had done it in the correct manner (through CLR) in the first place. I've been there, done that...just trying to save you much aggravation and uncessary loss of additional fundage.

Alright, thanks. I'm a little too poor to ship them off to CLR (already spending about 2k more than I need to rebuild this motor), and figured if it could be done RIGHT without them going to CLR, then I could afford it, but I suppose that'll be another item to tack onto the "my next motor is gonna be so sweet" list. Thanks for the honest advice guys.
