I was wondering if you might have taken a measurement from the bellhousing to the shifter? I need to be about 60mm shorter in an RX8 chassis due to the further engine setback and am trying to get prepared with the necessary support parts. thanks.
edit: thanks for helping me out, looks like the SerialOne shifter is just going to make it in the RX8 chassis at the shortest setting. There’s an alternate shift arm extension piece if it comes down to it as well. I was just trying to verify before ordering the shifter. I’ll try to make it work with the standard part first.

here’s the pigtail connector for the CD009 reverse and neutral transmission switches (same connector for both)

So Careless, can you contact me somehow? I bought this kit from you a couple years ago and my mechanic is complaining about the adapter plate and it not lining up to the FD engine. I'm thinking he's doing something wrong.

Im talking to him, it sounds like it just needs a little modification and machining.

yep! Thank you! He figured that one out! Looks like everything is fine! My only problem is my clutch but I have a fix for that. He said there is an issue with the adapter plate but nothing some minor machining won’t fix. He’s taking it to the machine shop tomorrow

ZM013SR found the problem. The kit we bought comes with the DL04R clutch discs which have the Mazda Splines built in. My wife just ordered the DL03R clutch discs which are the same just 0.7mm thicker but have the center for the hub spline. So using a CH12 hub spline for the Nissan splines instead of the CH16. Me and Careless went over this a couple years ago.

also before my mechanic screws something up he’s says A and B are different dimensions and he’s sending A off to be machined today so that it will fit. Did anyone else have to do this?

Thanks! I’ll let him know! He’s probably going to be an *** about it and send it off to be machines .01mm so it fits easier and I’ll have to wait for two weeks for them to take off that .01mm…

Just going to post some info for others and issues I had
Took forever to figure this out
ordered a new pst driveshaft was way out of balance …..
mcloed dual disks and flywheel was also way out of balance when requested it be balance to zero …..
My trans mount ( it actually pulls the trans down not holding it up since the trans floats on the motor mounts )
Clutch need the trans cover machine down to fit the dual disk I tossed the thin shim ( which works perfect for pulling the flywheel adaptor off when removing auto counterweight ) that came with the kit and machine down cover the thickness of the larger adaptor to get the correct thickness keeping the 3 tabs for the slave cylinder

did you ask McCleod to machine the FW lighter as Howard requested/suggested?
I have to imagine that clutch assembly is pretty heavy by itself compared to other similar ones. Was considering an equivalent Spec Super-Twin version, but already have their 7.25” Mini-Twin and may just stick with it.
Just curious on approximately how much was machined off the facing? My thought would have been to machine the mounting plate thinner and knock the three post tops down if needed, but then that may not work depending on how much needs to come off.

The flywheel is lighter then the stock oe one , It drives great for daily driving , I don’t remember the weight but it was similar to the stock setup , the trans plate was machined so the tabs were flush with the top of the adaptor, per Howard’s pics I don’t think his was machined it looks identical to mine, FYI I would not recommend dealing with mcleod terrible service

ok, I was just trying to get a feel for how much you machined off since the locating tabs are close, but not actually flush … but without a before pic or a material removal dimension we’re still in the dark about how much was machined off the trans input shaft cover plate.

Hi I want to do something similar now for my racecar, because I replaced all the bearings and syncros in my FC gearbox during corona, and now the bearings are again worn out as hell and it is really hard to shift.
Now I have some questions:
- Does anybody have the dimensions for the adapter plate? ( or at least the 13B flange or 370Z flange )
- Can I just go for the newest 370Z gearbox, or are there any downsides?
- Does the gearbox input shaft go into the clutch and pivot bearing even with the adapter plate on just like this ?
- Is there a posibility to adapt the FC propeller shaft to the Nissan gearbox, or do I have to take a 370Z and a FC shaft to cut them and make a new one fitting for me?
I`ll be doing this in Germany, so if anybody wants to join in the group buy/fabrication of the tranny and adapters just give me a call.
-Patrick

OP/kit builder hasn’t logged in since July/2022
you could maybe try to see if he’s willing to sell you the design/info since it seems unlikely he’ll ever build more. Think I may have a direct email address for him. edit: I was specifically asked not to give it out because he was getting hit up too much by people wanting more of this kit. So most likely he doesn’t want anything more to do with this going forward.
but there’s a kit FS out of Canada that's similar and might make more sense since it includes a full cast bellhousing rather than adapter, but one difference is it requires a Nissan clutch using their non-Mazda flywheel, another difference is it comes with a Tilton hydraulic release bearing setup. There’s a machined billet bellhousing option if you have money burning a hole in your pocket.
https://fischracingtech.com/products...adapter-system
edit: looks like they killed the billet option, but they do have machined aluminum trans mount options for both the S4 FC (not S5) and FD.
The OP was from Canada too, always wondered if that was relative to the Fisch kit being released not so long after the group buy here being fulfilled. No idea though.
The Fisch kit mentions a different input shaft bearing spacer depending on which CD009 trans is used. I can’t recall that ever being discussed here. On the 370Z trans there were basically two versions, standard or with the downshift synchro rev matching device. I want to say the standard one was cheaper when I bought one new from the dealership (still not installed yet), but am not sure.
