Intake and Exhaust question

I am looking to put an intake on my car but i have realized that no one makes anything for my car (89 turbo II) and i have read forums and have seen pics of people putting filters on the end of their turbo intake and putting a heat sheild around it. What do you guys think about that? and i am also looking to remove my rear cat and put in a test pipe. any pro's con's that i should consider? Thanks alot.

Just about every Rx7 parts or performance site, even ebay has intake setups for your car. Try rx7.com, racingbeat.com, speedmachineperformance.com, banzairacing.net, etc... theres plenty out there. As far as putting an open intake and a test pipe you might consider running a fuel cut defencer which will bypass the factory fuel cutoff if you exceed 10psi. Racing Beat sells them and you can find out the info there.
