Oh, ok. I'm new to compressors so I'll definitly look into it more.

Yeah, could you post some measurements on your aluminum parts?

I don't have the measurements written out. I had a rotor and a stationary gear by my lathe to take those measurements from and the aluminum stock was a 4" OD pipe with about a 7/16" wall thickness. The press plate I think was about 1/2".
Since the first was moreless a prototype because was was not certain it would work I just kind of threw it together.
I will make another set with a few changes that I think will be helpful and that will be made to a drawing. I would like to mount a removeable rubber footed plate on the bottom so it would be a little easier to keep still when using it. A short 3/8" thick piece of angle iron could be mounted in place of the foot mount so you could put it in a vice if a vice is available to make it real easy to use.

Sounds awsome. We owe you many beers at this point!

I guess I'll have to slightly mod mine for a 12A since the rotor bearings are shorter right?

The same will work for 12a, 13b, 20b. If you are ever in DFW or I'm in Orlando I will take you up on the beers

Right now I am not real jazzed about it. I will not be able to get my RX-8 until I get some crap taken care of with my credit because Ford Motor credit jacked me up because they showed I owed on a car for 5 months after it was totalled and paid off (insurance)
It has pissed me off enough that I am actually thinking of suing them because there is nothing I can do until it goes through a long drawn out process.
I would settle for them financing an RX-8 at 0% financing.
Ughh... that just pisses me off to think about it. Even if I have the paint work finished on my AE I cannot see driving a second gen all the way to Cali even if it is nice and has a turbo. It could be worse but damn this just is not what I had planned. I would have kept my vert longer and drove it if I saw this coming.

Hey guys, good news from Brian Cain. He is still in New Orleans and did several runs on the bearing press. He said he got a few light marks that did not get to the copper or appear significant. That is just a sign that these will have to be polished up a bit.
He said that they worked very well with the bigger air compressor.
He should probably verify this on the thread later. Hopefully this idea will help some of you guys. Let me know if it does. I kinda like getting the feedback It offsets when my wife tells me I'm a dumbass

Brian used the press again and this time he posted pics. He should chime in at some point. He told me he really likes using them.

Yep. First test run on live bearings and they did pretty well other than a few scuffs. The one issue that needs to be resolved is proper mounting of the rotor (and gear), I think. Otherwise, they're quite handy to have. I plan on using them again here in the next several days on a customer's engine foregoing the use of a hydraulic press. They also work extremely quickly. I used them on a 26 gallon ('least I think it was 26ga) Campbell Hausfeld air compressor with a ~300ft/lbs impact gun and it tore right through them.

Very nice job Mike!
