I will be buying a rx7 soon for a drag car, and i just want to know how much work it will take to get into the 12's and what will i need to get there.
with a bridge port and some lightening, no problem if you have your gearing sorted and you can drive. (240-250hp)
with a bridge port and some spray, no problem. (300-up)
with stock/street port and tons more spray, you can do it too. (how much spray to turn 130-170hp up to 300hp? lightening and driver ability makes life easlier on an engine)
this is all non-turbo of course and speaking for 1st-gens. 2nd-gens, relatively speaking, are tanks with crap rear suspension (pro-squat = UGH!) and the factory 200hp ones were good to crack into the 14's. If starting out with no car and drag racing is your intent, I'd avoid an FC unless you get a screaming deal on a Turbo. 200hp in a mildly lightened 1st-gen will put a very big grin on your face.
