Question How do you "Pre-spool" your turbo?

Hello all,

I've had my 88 Turbo II for about 2 years now. It is my first turbo charged sports car. In the time I have owned it, I've learned how to repair and care for car, but I haven't raced it much.

I have heard people talk about pre-spooling their turbo so they can get off the line quicker. How exactly is this done?

Thanks,
Douglas

well if you have an automatic(which i higly doubt) just hit the brakes and the gas. other wise i find it easier just to rev it up to abpout 4 or so trhen floor it and brn the clutch for a second and then droop it and it takes off like a bat out of yeah. as for spooling at adead stop just put your heal on the brake your toe on the gas and put both down and let the clutch out till it starts to burn and let it uild boost. bo\ut i wouldnt recomend that since i hate burning my clutch

To prespool on a manual you have to get the 2 step ignition. See the Help crispeed thread for more info about the 2 step

Thanks Guys,

My T2 is a manual. The clutch technique sounds a bit tricky manipulating all three pedals, but I'll give it a try.

The line locks sound do-able, but I would still be burning the clutch to get the turbo to prespool, right?

And Finally, I'm going to have to do some more research on the 2 step ignition. That thread talkes about how to install one, but doesn't say much about how it works or what type of price tag I would be looking at.

Thanks Again,
Douglas
