Help me analyze this run

I went to the tracks the other day and made 2 runs. The first run I had to shut down due to the back end getting too loose in 2 ond gear. My second run looks like this:

60' 2.2
1/4 mile 14.1
103mph

this was done on street tires ( full pressure)
12lbs of boost
shifting at 7000 rpm

I spun the tires like crazy off the line. I left at 4000 rpm with some wheel hop. Tried feathering the throttle a little to help with traction but it didn't help my 60' times. This was a shake down run so I didn't expect too much but what do you guys think? What kind of times do you think I could get with slicks?

thanks
Kelvin

Next time I'll run more boost and hold the revs a little more. Just taking it easy on the first few runs!

With your setup, I assume you have a full exhaust, I would expect to see low 12's pretty easily and probably 11's. My concern is not your 1/4 mile time or your 60' but rather your trap speed. Why is it so low? 103? That is less than a bone stock FD?

Your trap is kinda low for running 12lbs. A 103 with good 60 foot will get you low 13s at best.

Thanks guys. I am suspecting I am losing some boost via the wastegate right now. Is there any way to check for leakage?

I got a boost gauge but I think I want to get one with a playback feature. I did not watch the boost gauge during my first two runs. I looked at my power FC after the run to see max boost.

You should learn to watch the boost gauge during the run, especially in 3rd gear.&nbsp You're not fast enough right now to zip through 3rd, and you should be able to glance at the boost gauge at the top of 3rd gear.&nbsp You're shifting into 4th gear right before the traps, right?&nbsp The car will normally run 1/3rd of the track in 3rd gear with your kinda power...

Wow, you right on the money there. I shifted into 4th not too far from the finish line. Does that mean I should have stayed in 3rd though the traps?

thanks

I don't have a boost controller hooked up right now so I adjust boost via the wastegate spring. Could this be partly a reason why my top speed is so low? Losing too much exhaust energy . My vac/boost line is hooked up directly to the wastegate. I also have the spring tensioner bolt backed out pretty far because my wastegate spring is in the 14lbs plus range. Apexi does not sell a lower lbs spring for this wastegate. Maybe I should purchase another wastegate with a lower spring rate (maybe a TIAL?) Also what boost controller would you recommend with my mods. I don't want to use the PFC to contol boost. Comments...please

Doesn't the FD come with a Torsen LSD? If your tail is getting happy during the run, I would suggest more rim and tire back there.

Your runs sound like mine. My turbo is too big for my application. Makes me slower. Might want to research that... I posted the times in the drag times thread.
