Has anyone thought of or tried this?

Has anyone ever tried making a port between the two primaries? Like in the runners before it gets to the combustion chamber? I figure it would be hard to get into there, other than that i was wondering could it bring any significant performance gain?

Just an idea

I have soooooooo....wondered the same thing (on a turbo)! I think vacuum and low end torque might suffer, but I don't know. Experts please respond!

I was thinking of the area just before the intake and even into the intake itself.
Kinda making a hole joining the two ports, half in the iron and half in the intake.

You lose that whole dynamic pumping effect from the two chambers.
Yes, you lose the low end power since you lose all the intake velocity.
Siamesed runners have been done.
It hurts low end power significantly.
For a full-out race car, it wouldn't matter.

There's a reason why Mazda did that.
It's detailed in a Formula SAE paper describing why Mazda went that route.

http://www.sae.org/ is the official website.
They have revamped it from before.
You need to pay for the papers, but it's real interesting when you punch in "rotary" as a kerword search.

Yay for having your school pay for technical papers.
